Re: Where to start? HELP!

I think it's a very open question. Kind of like "I want to paint a picture but just so I know how to paint". I may say "Take a brush and some oil paint, get your canvas and start painting what you see"..... And Dude over there may say "Whatdu need canvas and paint and shit f...

Re: Where to start? HELP!

Hmmmm...

Do you have the demo version or the full version of suite? There's a difference.

Re: Answers?

Ha. I love it when a train flies so far off track it ends up in another country. I'm kind of newish but have been round many a forum and seen and answered almost every question. The problem with some forums is they are free to EVERYONE to post. Coming from a tech support background I know that nothi...

Re: How to map something to multiple knobs/pads?

AFAIK it cannot be done in Ableton. There are 2 options, both of which I use from time to time. 1: If possible, set the pads to the same CC\Channel number and set the outgoing data level to the right level for the function needed. This is difficult on many devices as they are not that flexible. 2: T...

Re: Midi Set Up Help

I guess it could be due to conflicting MIDI channels? I don't have any hardware synths but I do have lots of hardware controllers and keyboards and have learned over the years to setup everything carefully. Ableton handles MIDI in/out differently than other DAWs I have used and it's a lot more criti...

Re: POLL: Maschine / MPD 18/32 / MPC 500/1000/2500

I own an MPD32 and it's not too bad... But not great either... The MAIN reason I got the MPD was I needed to tap out drum beats. I wanted a few more controls which I hard code to functions in Ableton so it's basically a drum programmer and works well for that and is just simlpe MIDI. After setting i...

Re: midi - play along in recorded track without new recording

???? Why not just create 2 MIDI tracks and point their MIDI output to the desired input on the desired instrument? That way you only have MIDI and they can easily transmit and play the same instrument. When you are happy you can merge the notes together with basic editing. You can also simply have t...

Re: Can Ableton read MIDI messages on channels 1b-16b?

Yep, that's correct. MIDI is 16 channels. No A/B etc. I have an MPD32 and that requires 3 channels to send all the data on. Typically, if you are creating custom maps on the controller you can set the pads to transmit on different channels foe every bank and control different instruments or effects ...

Re: Bome Makes Things Easier!

Yeah AHK should work just as well. I was using an app called uice which is similar to AHK and girder but I bought it years ago. I use bome because I do a lot of midi routing thru it too and having all in one app is great. Also allows me to easily disable the feature simply by deselecting the checkbo...

Re: Bome Makes Things Easier!

I'm at a seminar ATM but I'll post some details when I'm back in the studio. I'm using the licensed pro version of bome but the free one should be able to do keys. Doesn't matter about the USB numpad as it just mirrors the keyboard. Just easier to place on the left hand
