Slice to midi
Sorry, I know I'm a total noob to Ableton but I am trying to learn fast so I can lend my support to others here eventually!
On that note, my noob question; How do you slice to midi? I'm coming from years of recording real instruments in Cubase and am still on the Ableton learning ...

Re: Live and Cubase
I do the same as you, importing tracks from Cubase, these tracks are already recorded at the Tempo I want them so when I import them into Ableton I just turn warp off and make sure the start and end points on each track are set to 0. Do these two things and your tracks will play exactly the same as ...

Changing Drum Sound File Loop To Midi?
If I use a drum loop from the sample library but want to change it a bit for the chorus section etc.... is there a way to change the sound file into a midi file so I can go to midi view and change some beats?

Re: Help Me Get This Rock Bass Sound
I usually agree, samples of real instruments, but I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with Tension. I'm still new to Ableton but I'll get some sound files up before too long.... Thanks for all the help.

Re: Help Me Get This Rock Bass Sound
I play guitar and sing at the same time, I don't have access to a full-time bass player due to schedule. The music I am using as examples in my links are both sampled bass, and since that's the sound I like; I think the samples will work fine. Basically my computer is my backing band and Ableton is ...

Re: Sliding into a bass note
I'm a bit confused about bringing audio tracks into the discussion. Are you referring to the arrangement view?
Yes, is there any reason to be throwing these into the arrangement view rather than just firing off scenes and individual samples as needed? I guess I am asking, is the arrangement flow ...

Re: Cracks & pops when starting playback or stopping
Okay so more data, looped sections on the arrangement view show this behavior every time playback goes back to the start.
Also, the CPU meter in ableton doesn't seem to be connected with the actual reality - I mentioned earlier that shoots up over 100% (127% right now), however windows' task ...

Re: Sliding into a bass note
Why not use pitch bend? You can set up a nice envelope in the clip.
Would that be more appropriate than glide? In a workflow sense, do you apply these in the sampler mode or do you usually do work in sample mode then record them all to audio tracks? So far, I seem to not even be touching the ...

Re: Sliding into a bass note
So thump thump thump-slide-thump? So the pitch of the third note slides to be the pitch of the fourth note? Or so the fourth note fades in?
If it's the former, then having glide/porta on and having the notes not overlap at all (except for the third, which would overlap with the fourth).
If it's ...

Re: Sliding into a bass note
Sorry, this is Ableton 101 stuff but I couldn't find the answer in search but I am trying to get just ONE of the notes in a series of notes in a midi sequence attached to a bass sound to slide into the note. So, the first notes go thump thump thump then slide into the next note. The items you ...

Sliding into a bass note
How do you get just one bass note to slide into the note rather than a direct pluck? Using midi bass line.

Re: Help Me Get This Rock Bass Sound
Sounds like a P-Bass (Precision Bass) played with a pick. Look for sounds like P-Bass, Precision, or Picked bass.
Generally rock bass like that is played on straight notes, and look at how the notes are laid out on a fretboard to get an idea of what notes the bass-player would play. Generally ...

Re: Help Me Get This Rock Bass Sound
I do have suit but have JUST gotten it so am still becoming familiar with it. I will load Tension and try playing with that this evening.
So far I've just been taking live backing tracks recorded in Cubase, loading them up and kicking them off with a midi controller on my guitar effects board ...

Re: Some starting questions from a newbie
I am running windows 7 64 bit and I did have an issue with windows 'auto-correcting volume levels" For instance,
The songs starts out with a quiet string then a hard loud drum comes in, windows would lower the volume of the entire song. I found several others having this same issue through google ...
