You can only use the VC via USB, so you still need to use MIDI over USB, then in the VC you go in the settings and as Output you choose the audio out instead of the USB out, that way you can still control the Virus via VC but using the analog output... Of course you will have to make a new track sel...

I know that L8 skins are compatible with the L9 beta. Try it in reverse........ Program Data - Ableton - L9 - Resources - Skins. Find the one you like and copy it into L8 - Resources - Skins.
