Hi all, got a Push and a nanokontrol and I don't like it when they get out of sync while scrolling through tracks. Any way to get them to get one to follow the scrolling of the other, like the novation launchpad and lanchkontrol can be configured to do?
Thanks!

Re: Live 9 Pricing
To people complaining about the long amount of time between 8 and 9, keep in mind that they've had to rewrite the entire program for 64bit and they've created an entirely new hardware controller, two pretty massive tasks. I personally have faith that once 9 is released, Ableton will go back to its ...

Re: Another new user question: Silencing a portion of audio
Is this in session or arrange view? In session you can use volume automation, in arrange you can also automate or you could also just delete the section you want silenced. As long as there's still part of the clip to the left or the right, you can always recover the deleted section by dragging the ...

Re: windows8 preview... anyone try it out yet ?!
I ran Windows 8 natively for a couple of weeks, including Live. Thoughts:
It's fucking fast
All hardware autodetected
Metro is pretty but feels clumsy with keyboard and mouse. Window management for metro apps is nearly non-existent: it's either fullscreen or slim sidebar

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X201 with Ableton Live?
Stay away from the budget L and Y series. They're cheaper because they compromise on build quality. The only Thinkpads worth buying are the T, W and X series, all of which are fucking excellent. I'm typing this on an X40 which will soon be 8 years old and is still going strong and even feels fast ...

Re: How To Paste "HERE"
When you copy, it also copies any empty space you have selected. So make sure you select only what you want to paste! Your other option is compensating for empty space by adjusting the location where you're pasting... No tricks, it pastes what you're selected.

Re: if live 9 is not 64-bit...
Ableton's RAM limit right now is, what, 2.5GB? Go over that and it crashes. Not acceptable - it's time to move on to 64bit.

If you get a windows laptop make sure it isn't a piece of shit. A good laptop will cost around the same regardless of whether it's a mac or something else.

because I wasn't even sure my CPU was worth it...
My laptop (which I am using for live acts) got a dual 2.4 ghz CPU with 4 Go of DDR3 and I don't feel it powerful enough for production but I know it's always better to have a "real" PC than a laptop to produce... So I was wondering if this should ...

Re: Setup for recording
Your panning problem is solved by selecting the correct input for each track. 'correct' being the input your mic is plugged into. If you set it at 1/2, that stereo track will listen to both inputs, 1 on the left and the other on the right. Anyway, not really sure why this is such a huge problem for ...

send midi CC from midi keyboard
I'm shopping around for a midi keyboard with 49 keys. One thing that would be very cool would be to send CCs rather than notes, maybe with a button selecting the two. The Alesis Q49 has built-in functionality for this, but if there's a way to DIY it then I'll go for the higher-quality novation ...

Re: ableton's simple delay vs delay pedals
The only problem with the live delay is that it's very clinical and clean-cut. An analog delay pedal like the EHX memory man / memory boy or the memory lane will sound a lot better... and that sound has been nicely emulated in software by the soundtoys echoboy. Really lovely lush delay, far nicer ...

Re: Has anyone used an Akai MPK 88?
if you can get your hands on one, the Doepfer PK88 is cheaper and looks orders of magnitude more solidly constructed than the MPK.
