control volume of loops via velocity?
I want to use some drum loops. The way I'm doing it is to put one on each channel, assign a midi key and set to gate. That way I can turn on an as I want, and I can change tempo and still use these loops. I want to have external midi switch them on and off, so I assuned a MIDI key, but would like co...

Re: how do you send CC to a track?
Not sure what you mean by Global Record. Do you mean the record enable on that track? Or the "record to arrangement" red dot up on top? If I shut track record enable the CCs never get to the track.
Looks like maybe shutting OVR is what I want.

how do you send CC to a track?
Lets say I have a clip recorded. Now I want to send CCs to it, just to affect the filter, but not actually record into that CC message into the clip.
If I enable input to that track it goes into record.
I just want to *play* that clip, and have it get my CCs.

Re: what to do about songs that now crash Ableton Live?
I enabled VSTi's one by one and that lead me to the problem track.

what to do about songs that now crash Ableton Live?
I have a song I wrote a few months ago. Rendered, done. Now months later, if I open that old file and try to play it, after about 10 seconds Ableton Live crashes 100% and closes. Nothing has changed in my setup that I'm aware of. Where do I begin to try and see what is causing it? Is there a log fil...

Re: Ableton seems to ignore different incoming MIDI Channels
If you put your VST on one track, then you can point to the "part" you want to hear an example, (your MIDI assignments may vary) track 1 has vst, but audio output muted track 2 is an audio track set to get audio from track one, part one (midi ch1) track 3 is an audio track set to get audio...

The Sonuus one seems nice, but is hardware, not software.

You could use something like Bome's Midi Translator.

Did you try this? I don't think it will work.

Re: patch / program changes don't work properly
If you look at it like that, then I guess the behaviour is consistent. Consistent? I suppose, but it's still poor design. Program changes should happen in a timeline, left to right. Whenever a MIDI clip is triggered, a patch change should be sent. If another clip was played a moment later, with a p...
