Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

I have an acquaintance (an astronomer) who'll chase anyone who starts blathering on about the Cosmic Octave down the street with a broom. He's one of those guys who's all "facty" about that shit - I can introduce you, if you'd like. :-) Clap your hands if you believe in fairies and the fl...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

OT, I'm glad that it basically works as expected. But unfortunately we don't know the pitchbend implementation of operator in detail. It has several pitch related parameters (eg. coarse, fine, pitch envelope, spread) which could possibly lead to inconsistent or unexpected behavior. Too bad. At some...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

Its probably worth noting that Ableton has a special file format that allows people to make microtonal (single cycle) waveforms. AMS files are text files that get translated into waveforms when you use them in Simpler/Sampler. I wrote a couple of articles about it a few years ago: http://www.thecov...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

How do you get to this scale tuning : 221.23 Hz = G# (a1 = 442.5 Hz / 440 Hz + 9.6 cent) As you can see it's +9.6 cent. Are we talking about Venus, don´t we? As far as I understood this kind of work it is not possible if you work in the cent tuning system. Normal soft- or hardware synthesizers only...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

So people did a bunch of work for you for free and you're going to make a double CD and charge them for it? Classy! :-) Another possible candidate for synths that support microtonal stuff would be Madrona Labs' "Aalto". Randy Jone's implementation of a Buchla-style complex oscillator is a...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

rawore wrote:another thing to check would be http://www.xen-arts.com/2011/01/new-rel ... -vsti.html which is a vst synth that can be organized for alternative tunings. it is free. look at the manual for tuning config details.
Thanks for the link. I will test it out.

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

Here's a thing I did in PD which you might be able to adapt for MAX. It sends each note on a different MIDI channel so each can have a different pitch bend amount. http://www.sharehost.co.uk/Live/microtune.png Thanks a lot. I guess that doesn´t work. I can´t build up some of the objects that are in...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

You need to keep the midiin object connected to midiout from the MIDI effect template. Sorry for the confusion as I said "empty" device..[/quote] OK, no problem, I´m glad to have your support. So, I have been trying all kinds of different possibilities in connecting the midiin object. The ...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

OK, thank you. I got it in. But there is no sound comming out. Here is the line up: 1. The pitch device and then Operater. But no Sound!? I think I have to bring in midi informations from my keyboard into the device, don´t I? So I was putting in a midiin object but if I connect it to the cent Dial a...

Re: Moleculary tunings in cent steps

Hi, thank you for your quick answer. OK that really looks simple. I know this is probably kind of hard for you what I am telling you now, but I have no clue where to find and how to create these "simple" objects. I was watching some of the tutorials but that won´t help very much. Look I am...
