Re: RIP Phife Dawg

what's truly sad is... a hip hop defining genre type icon has passed and me you and tapper are the only ones responding. This is A Tribe Called Quest ffs. It's not like we're mourning 50 Cent here... I agree! I felt the same way about the keith Emerson passing, even though probably few people here ...

Re: Is all Ableton has to offer just Electronic dubstep trap mus

I agree that nothing supplements real instrument playing. I'm also a Reason jockey in my spare time, and must say that their A-List-Guitarist series of rack extensions (pop chords, acoustic, and power chords) have often inspired the idea of not playing guitar at all and using these for a live scenar...

RIP Keith Emerson

 WHile I took a more space/psychedelic rock path, ELP was an early influence in the sonic impact of synthesis.

Re: RIP Sir George Martin

We are definitely experiencing the "changing of the guard," musically as a lot of the baby boomers and their predecessors begin to ascend planetarily. Somehow, I have to believe/hope that in the spirit of art, music, and human expression, music will survive with quality and integrity.

Re: your ideas, inspirations

A slight disclaimer is that these days, I am on a little bit of a production "burnout," and all I want to do is play music with other human beings. I've kind of gone old school and have been jamming with my musician networks, not worrying about the production, but trying to feel, experien...

Re: your ideas, inspirations

I see a fair share of people pass on/away in my line of work. I always get a surge of inspiration and creativity based on the metaphor of life being so short, unpredictable, and the need to find fulfillment, joy and inner peas....That is usually my stepping stone into music production and creativity...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

My bank bot thinks buying music software at 4 AM is suspicious activity. GAS doesn’t have business hours. :x I have had a few purchases not go through with european software companies that are downloadable, citibank seems to think It is suspicious activity even though I have told them a few times t...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

Proper ergonomic sitting posture Now, that at least seems like a good investment! Where can I get one? Seriously. My biggest challenge when I'm actually finding time for writing music is that I can't seem to sit comfortably. I use a 75cm exercise ball. I bounce on it, I roll around on it, I l...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

No i'm happy, but wish I had more inner calm and not always feeling inadequate that a new piece of gear will solve. Great thing to think about, and I definitely go through that with every purchase. I have to ask myself if I'm buying something, will it make my life easier and it really will benefit ...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

I'll be getting a powered subwoofer any day now to round out my "PA," this way I can play my moog synths and get a full spectrum of sound, all the while driving my dog (my only probable audience at the moment) to the point of desertion.... Oh and a EHX C9 organ machine guitar effects peda...

I also use reason and won't visit the site anymore because it is exactly the same thing. You nailed it, it is all about consumption, not creation. :x
