Has anyone found a good setting for Ableton Reverb?

I think Ableton needs to add a good reverb. It makes such a gigantic difference. The current one sounds horrible and it made me think Ableton was dull and uninteresting. Then I chucked a Valhalla Room reverb and the difference is night and day. I even downloaded Komplete Start and used the Guitar Ri...

Re: newbie

Many reviewers say Audio Technica M40x is better (and cheaper) than M50x.

Re: With 10.1 is Ableton's MIDI capabilities better than Bitwig?

A million improvements could be made to the midi editor, but Ableton is obsessed with having a minimalistic GUI, so don't expect much to be added. However, the midi editor has many capabilities and shortcuts that people are often unaware off. Check out some youtube videos to discover those things. T...

Re: Live 10.1

Love the update. Ableton is feeling really polished and professional now. Can someone explain the Channel EQ? Why is it needed? It seems to be overly dumbed down. I'd much rather something useful like another level control in the Mixer Section to automate rather than having to automate the volume le...

Re: Ableton 10 about to purchase

I think it depends on how cluey you are. I wasn't cluey. I got Live Intro and veged out on it, wondering why I wasn't inspired. After a year, I had a pile of recordings with potential but with dull basic Ableton sounds. Then I heard some good synths and effects and realised I had been wasting my tim...

Re: Music Theory Question

For example, let's look at that C-E-G-B chord of your. You can think of it as a C maj7 chord or as an Em6 chord. No, you need the C to be C# to call it a Em6 chord. For the OP, as long as some instruments are playing C-E-G notes in the key of C, then it is almost certainly a C chord. But there are ...

Re: Which of these two songs are best suited as a demo song?

I like The Machine a lot. The two obvious improvements needed are a clearer snare and a clearer vocal. I'm not sure what the genre requirements are, but I can imagine a nice smooth female vocal going over the top of some sections.

The rest (wavetable synth (sounds rubbish compared to massive and razor)), a few colours in the browser and the ability to copy project files with versions (yawn) and a drum equaliser are weak. ....automation editable by typing in a number into a pop-up instead of fucking around with the mouse tryi...

Re: Truths about perceived quality in audio interfaces for ITB

These sorts of questions remind me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrK5u5W8afc Man, that mic sounds like a dream! Where can I buy one? In other words, it's more about the talent than the equipment. But I guess if you are an audiophile type who is willing to pay 100% more to get 5% imp...

Re: First Time User - What laptop to buy?

Laptops with i7 processors often have CPU throttling, which makes them not that much better than i5. Some gaming laptops and others are exceptions.

The new intel i5 are quad core now, so that should see a big improvement over the old i5/i7.

I like the GUI overhaul, the Collections part of the browser, the multi-midi editing thing, Wavetable, and the drum effect. For those who say the update is thin, check out this excellent fast summary of all the improvements - it's 28 minutes of improvement after improvement after improvement: https:...

Re: Any Improvements In The Audio Engine Of Ableton Live 10?

There's a few reasons I think Live has gotten a bad rap about this over the years: - Warping tends to be on be default, and if there's any tempo differences that will trigger timestretching which obviously alters the sound. - Fades on clip edges is on by default, which can affect transients and hel...
