Re: Browser woes

I hope you can fix it without dropping it altogether Amaury. The fast searches are a big deal to a lot of people. In Live 8 if I searched for a common item it could take several minutes. How about having both an indexing system and a direct browser, and a choice of either or both? Our goal is to ma...

Re: Browser woes

We're aware of the goals: seeing contents as fast as possible, and not impeding music making by eating up CPU resources. We're looking into that. The solution may or may not be to not index folders. Is that what you're concerned with? As far as this aspect of the browser goes yes, exactly that. I k...

Re: Browser woes

Amaury, How about the fact that a search doesn't return results? Only the folders with the results hidden. Wouldn't it make more sense to return the results with the folders open so the user can see the results? Cheers, Mike That's another topic. Currently, we filter the visible contents in a each ...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE !!!

What's describe here doesn't make a difference: files and folders added later to a folder are scanned the same as if they were present in the first place, when registering the folder. Again: we're suffering from a bad issue which makes indexing painful. We are addressing it as we speak. It's much wo...

Re: Browser woes

Hi, We hear you. As said in the other thread, we're working on fixing the too long scanning times for folders full of samples and fixing the too high CPU usage the Indexer consumes on OSX. Kind regards, Amaury I still think it's missing the point, any type of scanning will add some amount of time b...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE !!!

Its interesting it seems to take sometime for changes to show up for some when live is closed and re-opened, others its instant, and in my case I just tried renaming a file with live closed, then re-opening it and so far after 5 minutes it still hasnt picked up the change I wonder if it has to do w...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE !!!

^ If I wanna add samples to my own Samples library and have then show up in Live I have to do it while Live is open? Really? That, er , sucks no? Live should detect changes to your folders even if these changes were made while Live was closed. On startup, registered folders are checked for new cont...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

I've been reminded of that one in a conversation a few days ago. In zone editors, like the Sampler zone editor or the Racks zone editor, press a note or a range of notes on your MIDI keyboard, then double click a zone: it is set to the note/range you've pressed on the keyboard.

Re: is play from the same spot always possible?

right click the loop brace in arrangement, select " set song start here " now the song will always start from wherever the loop start is. This applies not only to the loop brace but also to any locator you creat in the Arrangement view (obviously only one of them can have the option ON at...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

Ah! Just remembered a nice one: in map mode, MIDI or Key, you can map the "track status" in Session view. That's the area to the right of the stop button of a track. When you click this area, it reveals whichever clip is playing, and displays it in the details view. Now, if you map this ar...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

Clicking the "Start" or "End" labels in the MIDI editor's Notes panel scrolls the MIDI editor there. Clicking the "Length" label in the Loop section zooms the loop into view. Equivalent labels in the Audio clip editor work the same.

Re: New install location for windows installer?

Before, I didn't have to choose a location, it already went to F:\Program Files\Ableton\, so all I had to do was hit next. Hi, You did at least once. The default intal location for Live has always been on the C: drive. I guess you once chose the F: drive? Now, it's C:\Documents and Settings\All Use...

Re: New install location for windows installer?

Thanks for clarifying, though maybe a little confused with the explanation. Since you've introduced the auto-updates since 8.3, the experience is more of a hassle than the old way. In my case, I install my audio programs to a different partition, the f:\ drive. Previously it remembered that locatio...
