Re: Weird Ableton vs Media Player problem
my guess is that the media player is set to use a different sample rate than ableton. 48khz is standard for movies so most media players default to that. if you open ableton after the media player it's most likely changing the sample rate back to what you used originally so it sounds normal check th...

Re: confused about volume in Live
my question was about volume, i'm happy with the balance and tone of the files i export. read the issue about running a kit in maschine standalone vs inside live. my kit shows clipping in live while standalone in maschine there is no clipping period, exact same kit/settings. i want to know the reaso...

confused about volume in Live
my question is more out of curiosity than a problem, but may dictate my decision to buy live 9 or not. i've searched the forum but none of the answers were concrete i am failing to understand where ableton is defining 0dbfs and how the pan law plays into this working mainly with maschine, cubase and...

Re: New Computer for Live 9 - Win 7 or 8 ??
for studio use, nothing beats a well thought out custom PC. I used to supervise a computer music lab at an over-priced art school that threw lots of cash at keeping facilities "cutting edge." my lab had around 40 brand new mac pro workstations running avid hardware along with live8/logic/p...

I produce but always just DJ when i play out most of the time. like most people when i make tracks i spend a lot of time balancing the levels to make it as perfect as po...

Re: Are "breakdowns" 100% necessary in Electronic Music?
a few short breaks can be good, for deep house you certainly don't need a full on breakdown.
have you checked other remixes on the label to see what the breakdowns are like? If it's a more formulaic label they may look for something like that

Re: PC or Mac?
i used to work in a computer music lab at a well known art school here in the states, we had about 40 brand new quad core Imacs in the room running Live, Protools, reason, etc... Those fucking things crashed every day. I was constantly restarting computers for students and troubleshooting bullshit i...

not sure about your level of experience but try experimenting in operator. the oscs and most of the envelopes have modulation amounts for velocity. play with envelopes, go overboard on modulation on everything just so you get an idea of what everything is doing. try putting the velocity plugin befor...

Re: Live + 3rd party plugins = FAIL
why not just turn off delay compensation and use a plugin at the end of the effects chain to manually compensate the delay. i understand we want to be lazy and not deal with this, but if it comes to getting work done don't let it hold you back. voxengo offers a free plugin to do exactly this job. pe...

Re: Will a new processor really make that much difference?
i've never used 80 channels but used to run my processor up. i built a new system a year ago and cpu doesn't cross my mind anymore. i don't think i've even heard a drop out once on my main machine
