Hooking up multiple synths and effects via MIDI

I can't seem to wrap my head around how to get everything hooked up. Here's what I have and what ports they have... Roland SH-201 - Out, In Aturia Microbrute - In Boss SE-70 - Out/Thru, In My interface only has one set of MIDI input/output, but is there a way to daisy chain these 3 together? Honestl...

Anyone know how to preserve an autograph on a synth?

So a few months back I bought a Virus Snow, and was fortunate enough to have it signed too on the bottom. It's cool having an autographed piece of gear, but I want to use it, and be able to take it somewhere if needed. Any idea what I can do to keep it from rubbing off or fading? I've heard of using...

Quickly turning a sound on and off...LFO maybe?

I was just messing around last night when I thought it would be neat to hear how a simple long synth note would sound when turned on and off repeatedly (Muted, unmuted?). Tried using an envelope for volume and that really didn't do what I was looking for, as it couldn't get the speed I wanted plus i...

How to make a snare like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OwFtHm7ERg

Starting at about 1:00 in.

I googled and read that you should take a clean snare and add distortion and reverb, but I'm still not getting it right. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ah! This is what I do right now, but I thought I was over complicating it.

Thanks!

How to save samples that I've edited/created?

Sorry for the RTFM type question, I don't have the manual in front of me and this question is driving me nuts. So say I load up a drum rack, drag a sample on there, some effects, and then have it play to an audio track. From there I want to save that new sound to .wav. How would I go about saving it...

Re: Under-desk keyboard shelf

How large is your keyboard? Ikea sells a sliding shelf for $10 that should be able to hold a 25 key.

Re: Home Studio Set Up (suggestions on equipment)

(ShelLuser posted before I was able to. So I wanted to say I agree in that becoming familiar with what you have first is the best thing to do. See how far you get and then determine what you need to continue. For example, you may find that just programming drum loops by just drawing them in is compl...

Having Midi mapping for various VSTs saved in one template?

I'm trying to see if something like this can be done. I'm not sure if I'll make sense but I'll try and explain what I'm looking for. Basically, I have a few VSTs that I've been using, and I want to make it so that after I take the time to map what I want to my MIDI controller, that when I load my de...

Re: Using faders on an MPD to control levels on a drum rack?

right click and "extract chain "... (one by one ) on the drumrack chains ... then group the extracted chains... Cheers for that, it does make the faders work but each hit is then on different tracks. I think what he's asking for (definitely what I'd like, if it's possible) it for the MPD ...

Re: Using faders on an MPD to control levels on a drum rack?

right click and "extract chain "... (one by one ) on the drumrack chains ... then group the extracted chains... Great :) I'll give it a shot tonight! My "dream" setup is kinda like this... MPD - Fader 1 - 8 (Controls volume for 8 samples in the drum rack) Knobs 1 - 8 (Controls m...

Re: Baltimore or Annapolis?

Sorry to bump it up, but I'm still looking for someone to learn with. Appreciate IcedSushi taking the time to reply to my PM, but I'm so new I wouldn't be worth his time lol. So still looking. Anyone who is new, and wants to just chill out and learn how to make some tunes send me a PM. We could even...

Re: tutorial to buy

Maybe you should try looking into a few books out there first. "How to make a noise" is a free book, and there's a few like Dance Music Manual which costs alot less than the tutorials out there. Then you can see what parts you really need to focus more on and then put down the cash for a t...
