Re: how to map MPK25 to Max For Live parameters
Finally figured it out. I needed to turn "remote" on in the MIDI sync preferences. I'm not sure I entirely understand this, but it's now working as expected.
Thanks,
Zach

Re: how to map MPK25 to Max For Live parameters
Any ideas? Am I really that inept? I seem to remember hearing of some tricks needed with pre-mapped controllers and Max For Live, as in this video tutorial: http://vimeo.com/7852405.

how to map MPK25 to Max For Live parameters
This seems a little silly, but how would I go about mapping my MPK25 to Max For Live parameters? My understanding is that I can't just do this the regular way because everything is already mapped, but I tried using one of the generic presets, which I assumed would be empty and have the same problem....

Re: automating video timing
Cool, thanks. I also just realized I can automate the BPM, which I think I prefer as you can see the warping in the interface (and also send automation from devices). By moving the warp markers, you have no visual record of where they were originally, right? There are probably some advantages to thi...

automating video timing
I just learned some folks use Live for video editing so I figured I'd give it a shot. Other than just splicing together clips in arrangement view, I'm wondering if there's anyway to apply automation to parameters of the video. Particularly, I'd like to automate the speed, duration, time mapping, etc...

time stretching automation envelopes on MIDI clips
It is my understanding that when Live 8 time stretch MIDI clips, the automations envelope remain constant. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? It's fine if it requires a Max For Live device.
Thanks,
Zach

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
One more problem with this method of recording automation with MIDI sends/receives is that you can't arm an audio track while the MIDI track is armed. In other words, you can't record the audio while the device is generating automation data live. You'd either have to record the automation first and ...

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
Btw, I FINALLY got this working using multiple channels on the IAC driver bus without making Live crash. This is definitely an area where Ableton could work on the stability...probably just by eliminating the need for this workaround entirely.

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
I'm having some trouble getting recording to work with your device. I also can't seem to get it to learn parameters from other tracks. Finally (and probably not your fault), it seems to be making Live crash a lot. The bottom line is that I'd rather use Live as a host for modules patched in Max rathe...

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
And one more thing: I'm in a situation where I want one LFO to modulate the frequency of another with then modulates an audio effect parameter, all via the IAC Driver. This is getting a little confusing. How would I configure the MIDI sends and receives of the various track?
Thanks,
Zach

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
Hmm, so it appears the automation doesn't warp with the MIDI notes. Any workaround here?

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
Figured it out: [ctlout]. This is almost exactly what I wanted, with one drawback: I have to record the automation on a different track from the device.

Re: recording automation from Max For Live devices
Thanks! I've used the IAC driver before and think this might be the best method for what I need. What I have no idea about is how to output MIDI CC from Max. Any help?
