Re: Pre-Listening, what do I need?

Are you on Mac or PC.

If Mac, then you can manage with a simple card as you already have be creating an 'aggregate audio device' in your audio prefs in OSX.

IF pc, you need 4 outs.

Re: NEW Vestax VCM 600 Midi Controller perfect for Live

Fellow VCM users, I was thinking if it's possible to switch the 8 FX pots for endless encoders? Any Midi Tech guys thought of how to do this? The APC40 is good in this regard, as you can jump to any FX rack and not have to worry about 'jumping' values when you turn a knob, it just 'picks up' from wh...

Re: Does anyone here have a Vestax VCM-600?

There are other threads with all the info you need.... Search for them :) That said I love mine too. It suits my dj mixer/mixing background better. Just wish it had detents for the EQ knobs centre position and endless encoders for the FX bank like the APC40, then for me it would be spot on. (I use a...

Re: Bypassing plugins on master buss

What if you do place a 'summing' track before the master and put your mastering plugs on that instead?

Send everything to the summing track and then the sum to the master....

Dear ST8, Brilliant work, and VERY noble of you to post it all here for FREE !! And especially given that it's something I've no doubt will be something people will use extensively. Do you have a PAYPAL donation account?? Apple should be paying you to for this kind of development, as it's something ...

Use Audacity to record, split, normalize, and then name and save each track.

And while you're at it, key&bpm them all either by ear, or use Mixed in Key.

Re: tips for converting vinyl collection to ditigal

I'd not go to all the trouble to record to disk your vinyl, and then save the master as MP3, that would be such a waste. Not to enter an mp3 quality debate, but even 320kps doesn't sound quite as good on a big club system or HIFI as the original vinyl or a ripped WAV. I buy all my dj tunes as WAV do...

Re: chord help using the tonys chords pack

What synth are you playing your chords through? I've found that some presets in many soft synths perhaps have 'chord' already in the harmonics. so If you play a chord with a chord, it doesn't sound 'right'. Does that make sense to anyone? As for the above comments, i' think the chord tools are great...

Re: Trifonic: Dummy Clip/Gating video tutorial

Yeah nice one.

I dont know why ableton are so slow/reluctant to and more drawing options... They added cross fade curves for audio clips, so it's part done already, now they just have to finish the job.

Re: mrideas' journey into vcm600 & launchpad control

Yeah, it seems like overkill, but i wanted to be able to mix somewhat 'live' with 4-6 tracks of clips etc, but dip into complete tracks in 2 more channels at anytime also, and be able to grab whatever it want easily without pre-prepping the set too much. Update on the new shuttle, is that it's not i...

Re: mrideas' journey into vcm600 & launchpad control

OK, bit of an update. I wanted a 'mouseless' setup for dj'ing with live, ie clip & libray browsing, so i dont have to 'prepare' so much. But.... I got sick of configuring midi stuff around with keystrokes, and losing controls on my VCM and LP. PLus Lp is limited in it's midi channel outputs with...

Re: keeping levels down in ableton for producing

Lately, I find myself pulling the drums down so they peak at or around -6, then mixing everything else around. Starting the mix like that gives a lot of headroom to play around, and if it starts to look like I'm running out of it, it usually means I have to pull something down. Yep, good advice. Se...

Re: SWing ur kick

If you apply so much swing that it's difficult to mix, i'd suggest it would sound weird anyway. I've mixed cd/vinyl tracks before where they just never seemed to be 'right' in time, but this would have been due to the swing in each track not working against each other. As a DJ this wouldn't stop me ...
