Linking clips together to use the same follow actions?
Hello, I would like to take 2 clips on two separate tracks and have them share the same follow actions. In other words, I'd like the clips to move at the same time to clips on the same scene. This is because the clips are doubling each other. Any way to do this? I could certainly re-sample both trac...

Re: Ableton Live 10
I would really love to be able to comp takes together the way you can in almost every other DAW.

32 bit and 64 bit versions on the same computer. Risky?
Hello all. I've been using the 64 bit version of Live 9 in Win 7, and I'll need to keep using it considering my giant sample libraries and high track counts often use more than 4GB RAM. There are a few M4L devices that don't work with 64 bits at all (e.g. vizzable), or don't work very well (rokvid)....

Re: Slow Rendering
No external hardware, so I was expecting fast renders with the new processor. The bit depth/sample rate don't seem to matter much... The processor never goes much beyond 15-20% total capacity and the drive stays well below 10 MB/S. It's faster than realtime, but much slower than it could be.

Slow Rendering
Hello, I recently built a new computer specifically for Live based on a very powerful Intel i7 4770k. When I work in Live in real-time, it's beautiful. Tons and Tond of tracks with effects, synths, VSTi's, etc and the processor hardly seems to notice. When I go to render, though, it seems very slow....

Re: Building a desktop computer for Live: Intel i7 or AMD FX?
Hello all, Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughts on this. I ended up going for a 4770K after learning that hyper-threading is indeed supported on Live 9. After a couple weeks of horrible troubleshooting that came down to a faulty hybrid hard drive, my workstation is up and running and working g...

Re: Novation remote SL mk2 (not) automapping to big vst synths
The act of automapping happens in the automap software, not in Live. It works great, and allows you to load custom parameter mappings with each VSTi. I'd recommend taking a look at the automap manual, as it gives good specific instructions on how to do this. Alternatively, you could save a custom ma...

Re: How do you play live with many projects? (fast switch?)
I've dealt with this a couple of ways:
1. I'll write little 1-2 minute tracks and play them on an ipod or whatever. Music for loading.
2. Load the entire set in one Live session view. This doesn't always work, in which case I use option #1.
3. You could always talk to the audience.

Building a desktop computer for Live: Intel i7 or AMD FX?
Hello all, I see that the folks at Ableton have stated that Live does NOT support hyper-threading. It also appears that Live CAN make use of multiple cores. This leads me to hypothesize that Live could perform the best with the AMD 8 core FX series processors. Has anyone had any experience in compar...

Re: Books on production/audio engineering
There are so many... Practical Recording Techniques and Modern Recording Techniques are two that are often started with. They cover roughly the same topics. I'm really into Alan Parson's new Art and Science of Sound Recording, and it has a 3 DVD video with the book. There are tons of others that foc...

This is something I've been meaning to do for a while now. I've looked into this enough to know that a lot of people are happy with Lemur's control, and it seems to be customizable. If you get this up and running do let me know; I'd like to check it out.

Is it time for MIDI 2.0 (or osc)?
I find it to be a small miracle that we're still using MIDI version 1.0 from 1983. I find it to be even more miraculous that it works out just fine for most applications in the modern day. But I think it's not up to the task for some important production techniques, especially for hardware control. ...

Re: How often do you use presets?
I find the argument that it's somehow not legit to use presets to be silly. Did Bach and Mozart build all of the orchestral instruments they used in their music? Jeez.

Anybody else using wind controllers?
I've been looking all over the place for useable sounds for my wind controller that's not just an emulation of traditional acoustic wind instruments. I want expressive synths and samplers that can handle the data from CC2. Does anyone have any favorites?
