I’m investigating the teaching of Live 1 on 1 online
Hello all, I’m wondering if teaching Ableton over the internet is a possibility. At this point I’m not sure this is something that is able to be done from a technical perspective. For an effective teaching environment, I believe I’ll need the following: Full webcam functionality (preference for audi...

Salt Lake Electric Ensemble Releases Philip Glass Record
Hello fellow Live users, I direct the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble, which is currently a group of 10 musicians which each perform and record with Live. We are pleased to announce that our recording of Philip Glass's Music With Changing Parts (1970) has been released on Glass's own record label, Orang...

Any M-Audio Oxygen 3rd gen users?
Hello, I plugged in my oxygen 3rd gen keyboard for the first time in a while and discovered that most of the control surface functions have quit working. I can switch tracks, but none of the knobs are being automatically routed and the fader doesn't work on Windows; on mac it sometimes works but str...

Thinking about MIDI step input workflow
Hello all, I'm fully committed to a MIDI step input workflow using a piano keyboard. I tend to play with both hands, making it a real problem to use one hand to tap the arrow keys on the computer keyboard. I noticed that the forward and backward steps could be midi mapped and I rejoiced, thinking th...

Re: M4L LFO device causes audible glitches on target vsti parame
Thanks for the idea. I agree, and I should have mentioned that I have modulated a lot of different synths with the M4L LFO before, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. Also, the modulation rate is very low (0.01 - 0.1 Hz).

M4L LFO device causes audible glitches on target vsti parame
Hello all, I used the stock M4L LFO device to modulate the filter cutoff knob on the Air Xpand2 VST instrument. Doing this caused many audible glitches, probably dozens per second. The glitches remain in exported audio files. For the uninitiated, here's a link to the vsti product page. It's a pretty...

Re: Strange behavior from stock M4L LFO audio effect device.
Sorry if I was unclear. I mean that the LFO jumps during simple playback when the play head finishes a certain midi clip and encounters a new one on the same track. No input from me is required other than pressing play. You know, I actually didn't try to consolidate the clips yet. I'll try that and ...

Strange behavior from stock M4L LFO audio effect device.
Hello all, I'm working on a big complex mix that makes extensive use of the M4L audio effect called "LFO." I'm pretty sure this was part of the Max for Live essentials pack that comes with Suite. When set to sync mode, the device will occasionally jump from one point in its oscillation to ...

Re: Video in Windows 10/64-bit?
I just wanted to let folks know that the codec pack suggested by ChangoM above is working great for me on Win 10 x64 using h264 MP4 files. Very stable and almost no CPU load. I uninstalled the codecs suggested by Ableton first.

New album of piano music by Erika Satie made exclusively in.
Hello all, I'm pleased to announce my new new album, a collection of my interpretations of piano music composed by Erik Satie. This was creatqed by sequencing MIDI in Live 9 that drove the "Alicia's Keys" sample library from NI. All sequencing, editing, mixing and mastering was completed i...

Re: The Ableton Index process
For all the emphasis that Ableton puts on Live being a Live tool, this is a bit of a showstopper. And it gives us no options. Some people would probably do just fine using the software with zero indexing. (And it'd mean zero headache on both sides of the table) Maybe it would be nice if Live had a ...

The Ableton Index process
Hello all, I'm hoping I can gain some insight into wtf the Ableton index process is doing on my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.11. During a rehearsal last night I discovered that some of my instruments that rely on sample libraries were glitching out because the samples couldn't be delivered quickly enough fr...

Please give me a keyboard shortcut for "Add Locator"
I use this sometimes dozens of times in a complex project; it would save me tons of time if there were a keyboard shortcut assigned to this one! Please and thank you.

Re: 96Khz. Why?
I use 96 khz pretty regularly for several reasons: 1. I think it sounds ever so slightly better, especially in projects where a lot of processing happens. HD space is cheap, and I don't want to compromise sound quality at all. 2. There's already a small market looking for these high resolution files...
