Removing the kext will not make your macbook run at full speed, it will run au 1.67 GHz fixed I think. The only way I have found to run my macbook at 2 GHz fixed is with coolbook (www.coolbook.se). It's nice because you can change the speed whenever you want to whatever you want.

I prefer the lv-1. The faders, althoug smaller, are easy to use (at least for my fingers...) and you get 8 channels instead of 6. I think that the easiest thing to do is assign a midi cc or note to each of the buttons, which in a simple version can be a fixed value.
