You are aware of the two dl options: with sounds vs. programm only?
And finally: why bother when it works?

By double clicking on an empty cell on a midi track you get an empty one bar clip.
Or you can just record in the next slot.

select all -> delete

You need some midi-to-keystroke converter to do it with one button, though.
There is midistroke by charlie roberts for mac and Bome’s MIDI Translator for pc.

Did you know.... An Arab can last for three days on one grain of rice?
