i'm only using it for Live.
security isnt an issue if you never go online :D and once this is set up there will be no need to ever go near the interwebs

but i also realised i am not fully updated.
windows was tricking me and i have numerous more updates to be up to speed... so i'll check in another ...

i'm running on an old laptop, hence windows 7
freshly installed and updated day yet live lite 10 will not start due to
api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
error.

as i understand it seems related to visual studio.
using windows auto update i currently have
2005 redistributable
2005 x64 ...

given up on 6
found a slightly more recent laptop with 64 bit win7 that can handle 8gb ram.

(other laptop had ram issue with 64 bit OS, couldn't handle >3gb ram,
but upgraded OS anyway and lite 10 install kept failing ...)

i am installing lite 10 as i type .. seems good so far..

quick point - i am stuck on lite 6, unless i update my entire OS .
(I am on 32 bit OS, and have already got license for 6 and 10, and am unable to downgrade license for versions 8 or 9 - which are available as 32bit, so am stuck on 6 for the moment.)

i think i've got it sorted now, i had a lot of unnecessary things happening :p
(it was shunting 7000 bangs a second just to keep the output rotating. lol)

a bit more testing now, and a few more ideas to integrate !!! i haven't really played with Max for a few years. it's still fun !!

the problemss i had to fix were : repeated information (continual sending of the same value), the controller on the leftest(i think) effectively hogging all the bandwidth when all were sent through the same speedlim, and the final values not always matching the automation value (when the output does ...

i've reduced each output so they only send "new" information. before, they were sending the same number again and again.

if i have five controllers sending information through the same speedlim, one ends up hogging all the output
now i'm trying to work out how to effectively randomising the order ...

where does this limit come from ? live, max, or MIDI.


any suggestions on how to implement this where there's a bunch of controllers ?
i guess i'd like to maintain as much resolution as possible, and i suppose i need to consider other plugins as well :p

i'm building a simple GUI for remote synth control.with a few live.dials and some buttons.

i've hit a problem with using automation.
when i automate two live.dials simultaneously it chokes up the midi queue.
seemingly all midi output is sloweddddd...

clocked drum machines slow down.

just found something curious,,
was playing renders in wavelab. changed wavelab output to asio and suddenly the sound was better,, my problems revolved around sound drivers..

why asio sounds so much better than directx is now my new question??? (even the asio directx driver)

i was perusing another thread with a similiar problem, and i've got same problem,
also have noticed playback with directx driver sounds different (muffled) than asio driver, and render has similiar sound to directx playback..

i've even noticed choosing driver type in audio preferences affect live playback output.. (but do not change render quality)..

asio sounds bright and wide,, directx is muffled .. when i render it has similiar sound qualities to the directx playback..
