I use Winamp as my default music player so I just installed new QT, not Itunes. I tried playing a couple of songs in QT now that you said it: it doesn't skip, but whenever I click away from QT, music mutes. On DirectShow setting that doesn't happen.

Sorry for bumping this, but I figured this one out. I opened the topic about this too some time ago but I guess that more people have seen this one so... If someone has already found the solution then forgive me :)

Open QuickTime, go to preferences, under Audio tab there should be an option "Play ...

Similar thing was happening to me too. I had 8.1 and couldn't load some songs at all but then I installed Quick time and then I could. And then the problems started, Live freezes on random occasions while loading an unanalysed songs (sometimes works with no problem though, but it eventually happens ...
