Re: Live 10 authorization impossible, coming from Beta
Just in case anybody is as late to install the non-beta version as I was... I just put the beta in the trash and then the authorization website opened regular Live 10, then I took the beta back out of the trash in case I have any problems with the non-beta version. OS X.

live coding Live with gibberwocky
https://vimeo.com/219565249 This performance uses a live coding system I created with Graham Wakefield named gibberwocky. This version is designed specifically to work with Ableton Live, and makes it easy to start sequencing and modulating Ableton instruments and effects using code, thanks to Max fo...

Thanks!
Unfortunately on the next line I ran reverse.seq on what was almost a palindrome... not quite as impressive looking :)

announcing gibberwocky: JavaScript live-coding for Live
Hello, I'm really happy to announce a beta of gibberwocky, a free, open-source live-coding plugin for Ableton Live. You can see a demo performance here: https://vimeo.com/187702511 The video starts off slow but (arguably) gets interesting after a couple of minutes, with various polyrhythms and audio...

Re: MidiBuddy + MidiStroke
It just remembers the last used settings. If you go to ~/Library/Application Support/midiStroke you'll see the file where the settings get saved. You could duplicate this file and then create additional settings and then rename the one you want to use each time. Not ideal, but that's the only way I ...

Re: MidiBuddy + MidiStroke
hey there, am I missing something, or are MIDI Notes and Program Changes entered into MIDIStroke in exactly the same way (meaning that the same entry will respond to both a Program Change and the corresponding MIDI Note?) Yep. It's a simple little program. My thinking was basically "If they ha...

Also, the MidiBuddy is great! Built like a lightweight tank and so simple to use... once you use lowercase letters in midiStroke

Re: MidiBuddy + MidiStroke
Make sure you use lower-case letters in the midiStroke GUI... the main bug here is that it shows a capital Z when you first launch midiStroke. But since there's a modifier for the shift key that doesn't really make sense. Using lowercase it works fine for me in OS X 10.9.2, midiStroke 1.4. Hope this...

Re: Lion versus Snow Leopard
I really, really wish I could have stayed on Snow Leopard. I know some people have had good experiences with Mountain Lion, but my advice is don't switch unless you have to. Whenever I fire up my 2007 laptop that has Snow Leopard on it, I'm always amazed at how much faster everything is than on my ...

midiStroke is free and does this if I understand what you're asking correctly.

Re: selfmade live visuals - which programs are out there?
Resolume is the best at the moment, Arkaos is usable, vvvv - is more for fixed installations then live and anyway unreliable, good for nerds with too much time and nothing better to do. Ignore suggestion about Flash, obsolete and was never really good for live visuals due to extreme high CPU. It is...

Re: vector-based live visuals - which programs are out there?
Might be easier to use OSC with Flash and use some other program to convert from MIDI to OSC. https://github.com/benchun/flosc I can't think of anyway to avoid coding if you want your animations to respond to MIDI (or OSC) unless you get some type of dedicated VJ environment... hopefully someone els...

Flash, I guess. Flash has owned that market for a long time...

Re: Machinedrum Sps1,UW,or Maschine and Spark combo.
Get the UW. No offense, looplock, but if you're talking about filling up the UW memory with 808 and 909 samples you don't get what the UW is good for. Discovering resampling / triggering with the UW option expanded my brain. I've since written software that allows me to mimic that technique / workfl...
