Re: USB Turntables

The stanton USB are ok.

If you have a good audio interface (RME, Apogeee, Focusrite...) you should use its A/D converters. Just buy turntable and a phono Preamp if you do not already have one (DJ Mixer), connect it to your soundcard and record with ableton.

Re: Other DAWs

Geist IN Reaper. Geists Workflow is uber-awesome. I need Reaper only to use the MPD 32 Note Repeat feature and all of Geists 8 engines. Geist standalone does not send MIDI Clock to the MPD and without Clock no Repeat. FX Pansion refuses to fix this since GURU. Instead they made a Geist internal Note...

Re: Novation Nocturn or something similar?

I have a nocturn since it hit the market and once in a while i take it out of the closet and give it a try and i am fascinated for one evening and sick of it after two days because automap sucks BIG times.

If you are in berlin you can have mine for small money.

Re: nocturn

The nocturn is not a class compliant usb device. So you have to install the automap software to run the nocturn.

Re: Best laptop for Ableton Live - on stage performance

Lots of thinkPad love here! Is it just a better price/ feature sweet- spot, compared to other Pc laptops and macs? it just works. oh wait... :x it just works anyway. They are just long living, high quality laptops. But i would avoid the Thinkpad Edge Series, unfortunately they are far behind thinkp...

Re: Best laptop for Ableton Live - on stage performance

Macbook Pro and a decent USB/Firewire interface. Sorted. I wouldn't even look at PC laptops personally, unless you want to really splash out on a custom built machine specifically for audio. Off-the-shelf PCs are a mess these days. Bullshit. Any Laptop costing as much as a Macbook is a decent machi...

8.2.8 - the final step?

The Berlin based magazine De:Bug reports rumours that the now released 8.2.8 is the last update before Live 9. Usually De:Bug is very well informed on ableton and NI

So check updates, its just 6 more months to go :D

Re: DJs: Similar to Live iOS App? (+ a happy rant)

After some more thought (while vinyl playing) I think Traktor is the answare to remixing old vinyl live. Because of two things: its possible load the ( "projects") songs on the fly: ie save a sample and loop set for each of the vinyl disks. Secondly because you can cue and nudge the loops...
