i have the same issues on windows xp sp2 and it really nerves me, cause i can´t shut down the process and i have to restart everytime the machine! this really kills creativity and workflow! and even on OSX 10.5.7 it´s a little bit unstable, mostly in combinaton with some plug-ins like predator or ...

i have an q6600 clocked at 3.0 ghz( you can go even higher) and its a blast! with normal musicmaking i never come over 40 % and i use a lot of softsynths and plugins like NI massive or reaktor. so get one, i think this is real musicmaking and it makes really fun! i´ve made some cpu tests to test ...
