Ye I was also a bit frustrated with this at first and at the same time I found it hard to belive that they had removed the feature.
So I tried a couple of buttons and sure enough, if you higlight an area and hold down shift while draging it up or down it'll work like in Live 8.

I havent been able to figure this one out.. If I have a clip and want to automate between the edges of that clip, I could just highlight a section and drag down/up on the automation line. This would make four automation points so I could easily continue to edit. It seems now this is not working, and ...
