And if you're not using samples, but a synth?

Re: how to combine tracks?
Are you talking about audio tracks? You can bounce them to a new track.

Re: Removing Silence in audio track
Sounds to me this 'remove silence' function does exactly the same as a noise gate, but then non-realtime.
You can try playing your vocal track through the noise gate and play around with the settings until you get what you want, and then record it to a new track.

Re: Removing Silence in audio track
are these 'blips and blops' during the actual singing or in between?
and just for interest. why is this function in Logic called 'remove silence' when it sounds to me that you want to create silence not remove it.

I don't think you get what redux is for. It is an effect to make things sound like they came from a Commodore 64.

Re: How to use a track as side chain while keeping it in the mix
Yes, That's the first thing I tried, but initially I thought it did't work because I forgot to put 'monitor' to 'in' on the new track. This way you can also group the two tracks together to save screen space. Still think it's kind of laborious that you have to create a separate track for each and ev...

Re: Another Problem: Chords coming out as a single note
Maybe the synth is set to 1 voice. Then it can only make 1 sound (note) at the time.
Try increasing the number of voices.
Can you please say which synth is included in the intro version?

Re: Envelopes box automation
Automation is always relative to the position of the knob. If the automation goes from 0% to 50%, and the knob is at 40%, the result will be 0% to 20%. So if you want to go to 100% you have to put the knob at 100%. knobs with an absolute value work a little bit different, but the automation is also ...

Re: synthesize a kickdrum with operator
I found this tutorial vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkz9rZyQjoE&feature=related from the sound on a youtube video you can't judge if he really gets 'kick to the chest' drums, but he seems to get decent results. It's in Spanish, but all the important info is shown on screen in English. Also...

Re: URGENT!!! Live crashes when rendering + deadline!!!
Can you play the track in Live without crashing? Then you could just record the output with a recording program or hardware recorder.
Not ideal, but better than nothing.
btw. you should upload the whole project, not just the .als file. Without the samples there's not much to be tested.

Re: synthesize a kickdrum with operator
The envelopes in operator are not quick enough to synthesize powerfull kickdrums. You'll need dedicated drumsynths for that. (my favourites are Waldorf Attack and ISM BazzISM2) You can also make a kick more powerfull with a good compressor, but don't expect wonders from that. "you can't polish ...

Re: How to group two midi tracks to one INSTRUMENT rack
Hadn't thought of that. You probably have to copy them separately. Don't know for sure. I hardly use envelopes in clips.oddstep wrote:Mahkitah, does this method transfer envelope automation for the instrument or do you have to transfer this separately?

Re: How to group two midi tracks to one INSTRUMENT rack
You can easily copy/paste a whole midi track including effects and everything into an instrument rack. In one go while keeping all the settings. Create a new midi track with an empty instrument rack. Create a new chain inside the rack. In the source track select all your instruments and effects (shi...

Re: How to use a track as side chain while keeping it in the mix
Thanks, that's a much better solution than creating duplicate tracks. Still have to create a new return track for every side chained effect. That eats a lot of screen space. (I don't think you can group return tracks) Haven't tried other DAW's but am I right to think that Live's audio and Midi routi...

Re: Workflow issue I'm struggling with with racks
In the lower left corner of the drum rack there are two buttons (S and R) to make sends and return channels visible in the drum rack.
You can create a return track in your rack and put an effect on it or route it to a global return track .
