Re: Lock an input device to a track and still play it with Push
Ok, for those who might stumble on this in the future, I found a solution that works: Set all regular (instrument) MIDI tracks, as well as the default for new MIDI tracks, to: MIDI From = Push Monitor = Auto This makes them playable from Push and from their clips, but not from other input devices, e...

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
I realized that audio clip show their position, you just need to use the Clip button: http://i.imgur.com/6uuktFk.png That's great, because audio clips are usually the ones with a weird duration. But I still can't find a way to see the progress for MIDI clips. Shouldn't the Clip button show the progr...

Lock an input device to a track and still play it with Push
Hello I would like to lock an input device (AKAI LPD8 pads) to a specific track ("LPD8") so that those pads always play that specific drum rack, whatever I might be doing with Push. I tried selecting the AKAI device as the MIDI From of the "LPD8" track and setting Monitor to In. ...

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
Hello
Does anybody know how to see the time left in the clips that are playing?
I'd like to see something like this on Push:
I found several resources suggesting to hold Shift + a playing clip, but it doesn't work. I'm using Push 2.

Re: question about cutting audio clips
I know this question is a bit old, but I wanted to point out that zooming/panning in Live is probably the best I've ever seen in any software. I'm talking about the click-and-drag on the measure bar, where the pointer becomes a zoom lens. If you just drag straight down/up, it zooms in/out over the e...

Re: Scripting Live
Thank you for that pointer, it's a great introduction. I spent the last few days learning the JS API and trying to make my Launchpad interact with my clips. But the JS API is very messy and not well documented at all. It's also not very responsive. It's clearly executed in a background thread. The e...

Scripting Live
I've been experimenting with M4L, on a friend's computer. I love the way I can access the Live internal object model in M4L, to query and observe tracks, clips, instruments, and so on. But I really despise the graphical programming style of Max. It's so slow and messy. Any programming language, from...

Launchpad: controlling 64 clips of a single track?
Hello I'm playing a part with many clips and only one instrument, so I'd like to use the full 64 buttons of my Launchpad to trigger 64 clips of a single track. I tried using the regular session mode, with 8 tracks and their clips outputting MIDI notes to a single master MIDI track, but I couldn't ge...

Envelopes and automation with a Nocturn controller
Hi everybody I've been reading about the difference between clip envelopes, which are relative, and actual parameter values / arrangement automation, which are absolute. I think I get the basic idea, but I still can't figure out if the following thing is possible or not. I'd like to record some kind...

Launchpad mapping and visual feedback
Hello I'm a new Live and Launchpad user and I have a couple of questions about MIDI mapping and visual feedback. With Remote mode enabled for both the input and output ports of the Launchpad, some MIDI mapping provide a nice visual feedback. For example, mapping any Launchpad button to a Track On bu...
