Re: L7 "The preset cannot be loaded. It's probably broken."
I freakin' love the Ableton Live forum. I just had this same problem, searched for that phrase, found this thread, realized what my solution was, and minutes later everything was working fine again. I use a lot of forums, and this is my favorite. (In my case, the prob was only that I still have an e...

USB bus-powered. Bummer. No good for my needs, but thanks. Looks cool. Whatever I use must be independent of a computer, and able to control MIDI gear via a MIDI cable.Mudo wrote:...

Re: Any new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger?
Wow, is there a way to turn the Ipad into a MIDI controller (or the iPod touch)?

Re: Any new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger?
Thanks for the idea, but the nanoPad won't work for me because it needs USB to send MIDI (and to get its own power). I really wanted those nanoPads, to stick onto my guitars, till I realized they need USB power *and* they only send MIDI down the USB cable. Bummer. I liked the one with the little joy...

Re: Any new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger?
Thanks for the recommendations. Also, extra thanks to yur2die4 for bringing up the lack of pressure-sensitivity on the padKontrol. That'll be good for folks who read this thread in the future. Glad you mentioned it because I didn't notice that. The manual says the padKontrol sends Aftertouch, so I a...

Re: Any new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger?
Hey, that PadKontrol's got possibilities! A reviewer at a store said it could run off a 9v ac adapter, so... that could do the trick. So you like it better than the Trigger Finger? Good to know. Thanks! edit to add: OMG it's got an x-y pad I can assign to pitch bend and/or MIDI continuous controller...

Any new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger?
Any other new controllers that could replace a Trigger Finger? The Korg nanos looked awesome to me at first, but they need to be plugged into USB. That won't work for me. I need one I can power free-standing, no computer needed. Preferably as programmable as the TF. I could program a pad on that to ...

Does Live respond to "set pitch bend range" MIDI messages?
Does Live respond to "set pitch bend range" MIDI messages? I play guitar synths sometimes, and, sometimes, it'd help if I could call up a sound with a different pitch bend range, and have it match the guitar synth. The guitar synth can send a message that says, "hey, synthesizer, chan...

Re: Copy and paste warp markers in live 8?
I've got a different situation, but the same wish (to paste warp markers from one clip onto another). I played a guitar riff, then spent a while moving warp markers around. But I recorded the riff in stereo (2 diff output sounds, one on each channel). I only warped the Left clip before I realized I ...

Re: Trigger Finger alternative? Just looking ahead...
Thanks for the details, NPC! Appreciate that. Reading about the Korg, I'm seeing "one broke after a couple of months" again and again. Dang. I don't know whether M-Audio will sell a Trigger Finger again. I've sent 2 emails to them thru their site in the past 4 months, asking why they stopp...

Trigger Finger alternative? Just looking ahead...
When I realized that M-Audio discontinued the Trigger Finger, I started thinking about what to replace mine with when it breaks. (It's awesome and works great so far, though). I didn't know how great it was till I started looking for a replacement. I asked at Harmony Central, and am looking for opin...

Well, maybe you can find someone who'll buy the whole Suite from you. Then, you take that money and come back and re-purchase the stuff you want. You might come out ahead.

Re: Glitch Grungetronica (vocals)
I'm with tlennon on the mixing, but I don't think it's a prob that your song has only 2 chords. I recommend a remix. Check out the Ableton Live manual's pages on the Compressor, and see if you can get your head around using "ducking" (it's explained there). That might bring your lyrics out...

Re: Trigger Finger doesn't map to Drum Rack
Thanks, Jörg, everybody, The solution for me was to use the preset for GM Drum Kit. That's the preset #1 in Trigger Finger defaults. I had been using the preset, that came with the defaults, called "Ableton Live Setup". I guess that's set up to work mainly with Impulse. Anyway, I have got ...
