Re: Recording audio with blue yeti makes intense high pitch echo?

Try turning your speakers off. It might be feedback and the latency is creating the delay for the echo.

Re: One midi channel randomly lowering volume (Please help)

Hi OptioBE My first thought is to wonder if there is a very slow LFO that is operating with in the Darkness Pad that is bring down a filter that causes the drop in volume. Without knowing more it is difficult to be more specific. One thing you could to is to start a new project with just the Darknes...

Re: CPU REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVE 9

I just rehabilitated a Mid 2010 MBP 13" with a Core Duo 2 processor at 2.4 ghz. My sense is that if all you are doing is playing audio clips with very few effects it could work but it hasn't good the power to do much processing and it would run out of gas real fast if you tried some softsyths.

open a command prompt by right clicking on it and choosing 'Run As Administrator' paste in the following: REM schtasks /Change /TN "Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\Automatic App Update" /Disable Hit Enter. This should disable the Auto App Updates. Windows updates themselves need to be deferred or t...

Re: ableton on a new windows 10 laptop.

Windows 10 on a SSD, Ableton 9.6 works without any problems. However, Windows 10 is even more annoying than Window 8 (which could be fixed with Classic Shell). What annoys me is losing control of the computer to windows updates. And as Murphy predicts Windows decides to do updates right when i want ...

Re: Wow! 16 GB not enough RAM?

I'm going to have to download the instrument and play with it, sounds like a ton of fun. To be a little bit nit picky, the amount of RAM in your system is not directly related to the power of your CPU. Both OSX (Activity Monitor) and Windows (Task Manager) have programs that let you monitor the perf...

Re: Recording mic, sound becomes distorted

I don't know this microphone but a quick google search suggests that it requires 48v phantom power. I don't understand what you mean by using a chinch cable into the microphone slot on the computer or even why you get any sound at all. In order for the mic to work it needs to be plugged into a Xlr i...

Re: Thunderbolt...worth the upgrade?

If you need rock solid, go for RME. i know RME is rock solid. the UC or UCX are options but i would prefer to use a Thunderbolt port if possible so that i can avoid using a USB hub in my setup. also the UC/UCX use breakout cables for MIDI. breakout cables suck. being able to bus power if necessary ...

Re: How to "Open" live sets without load time?

Since we are talking about controllers one trick you can use is to get a high speed controller that supports a RAID 0 disk configuration. RAID 0 lets you combine several SSD so they appear like a single disk. The data is spread across the multiple disks increasing the transfer rate. I would be looki...

Re: How to "Open" live sets without load time?

Holding the samples in RAM is a feature of VEP. I'm not aware of that feature being available in in any other DAW. Certainly not in Ableton Live. The Window gaming folks sometimes us a RAMDisk like this http://www.radeonramdisk.com/software_downloads.php You might be able to copy your samples to the...

Re: New User Please Help!

In answer to the OP Regardless of whether you are using Ableton or Garageband, there a few basic steps to recording. I'm going to assume you have installed the various drivers need to get the Focusrite Solo to work on your Mac. 1. The mic needs to be plugged into the Focusrite Solo, this is the 3 pi...

Re: M4L for musicans, NOT programmers?

Interactive Composition by Manzo & Kuhn, Oxford University Press. Is a pretty good introduction. It is more focused on Live than M4L but the examples are directly musical. I spent about 5 days with the book in July and really found it useful. http://www.amazon.ca/Interactive-Composition-Strategies-U...

Re: How to use two MacBook laptops splitting Monitors

Not sure why you are using two Macs but I can see some serious problems. If both Mac's are opening the same project file and you make different changes to the project file on each Mac, when you save the file. the last file saved will overwrite that changes in the first file saved. My understanding i...

Re: Is a 4-band EQ enough for most tasks?

One key factor in the 1000s of classic albums is that often a great deal of effort was but into getting the sound recorded right from the instrument. If the recorded sound was great then it didn't need much extra work during mixing. With electronic music the sound tends to be polished all the way th...
