New Album - The Coldest Hour by Akai

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share that I've engineered/produced my first full length album for some good friends of mine. The band is Akai (http://www.theakai.com). It's been a long three year project. All recording/producing/mixing/mastering was done inside Live (i think starting in Live v6, fin...

Re: Collaborating over the internet, how do you do it?

I've not used this service for this yet, but you might want to check out sugarsync.com - they have a shared folders feature that might keep projects synced up automatically, or at least simplify the transfer of files. They have a 2GB free account you can test with. I've been using it for syncing my ...

Analog / Ultra Analog Preset

I recreated one of my favorite presets from Ultra Analog for Analog... It's simple but nice. So, I thought I'd share it, in case anyone else missed it. You can grab it from http://tech17.net/live/SawAnalog.zip.

It was made in v8.. Enjoy!

Re: do i need a launchpad

I bought one and love it! It makes composing and mixing much more interactive and productive, at least in my composition style. I usually start by layering components in session view, building up clips, jumping between all the different instruments as I see fit, trying lots of different ideas. After...

Re: How are IK Multimedia Plugs workin in 8 for you?

Thanks for the handy tip. This problem did happen with one instance only, with the mapping the way described in your video, or using multiple instances however. I'm glad its working for you, either way!

How are IK Multimedia Plugs workin in 8 for you?

So, I picked up v8, and I'm loving it. Tonight I was able to run SampleTank and Philharmonik in Live, with out it crashing on me at all. That's the most time I've been able to do that since something like v5?... I know I've seen other folks on here who had the same repeat crashing problems with IK s...

Also, you can check out HarBal from www.har-bal.com if you haven't already - it helps you see what is going on. I usually "replace" the tracks eq with this tool.

You could also use an Instrument Rack to host say two or three drum racks, depending on how many samples deep your velocity layers are, then utilize the velocity settings in the instrument rack. You might setup your first drumrack as you want, then use the copy/paste feature in Instrument Rack to du...

Are you guys using session view AND arrangement view? Sampletank/SonikSynth/Miroslav work fine for me as long as I stay in session view. Can you use multiple instances? If I open/close plugin window a few times in arrangment view and start/stop playback, it will crash. Anything like that?

Thanks Pasha! - It is showing up as SampleTank 2.5. Since version 2.2.2 it was supposed to be fully VST 2.4 compatible, but I've never had success. This is both in Vista and on my XP machine. It really stinks cause I love the sounds in ST/Miroslav/SonikSynth, but they are kinda unusable right now...
