Re: MP3s don't import properly
Yes, just confirming the same problem here with song-length MP3’s, but just curious: the shortened import problem continues even if I switch back to the current, 32-bit release (8.3.3) even if I don’t have Live create an analysis file, or if I delete the analysis file. The only fix is to delete the ...

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have replaced my need for 64bit with Vienna Ensemble Pro , which is probably better than having Live as 64bit anyway……. Ditto to JBlongz’s experience with VEP. One caveat is that Ableton Live is somewhat of an orphan host for VEP and the full compatibility with Live lags other, more studio ...

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Ableton wanted to explain the issue, they would have done it already my friend, there are so many related threads online!

there are reasons for not rushing into 64 bit:

None of which apply to Ableton Live.

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Patience. Ableton is not alone in barriers to quickly moving to 64 bit. Pro Tools just released version 10 and, yes, it is still 32 bit. A killer DAW, but like Ableton Live, there are reasons for not rushing into 64 bit:

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just had a computer built for me just for music production. I opted for the 64 bit version of windows 7 so I could amke full use of the 16 gig of RAM and then I find out that was pointless, so have gone back to 32 bit.

Re: Should I buy a Thinkpad? Time sensitive
A couple of suggestions:
Unless you are using large sample libraries, 4 GB will suffice for now; especially since Live is still 32 bit and will use at most only 3-3.5 GB before you start getting “out of memory” warnings. The extra 4 GB to get to 8 gigs will cost you an additional $150-200 if ...

Re: Should I buy a Thinkpad? Time sensitive
I say go for it! I’ve been using a T61p machine for several years and it still runs everything I need: Ableton, Reason, Komplete 7 (including large Kontakt libraries like Electri6ity, Alicia’s Keys,….), Omnisphere, RME Babyface and UFX, multiple controllers, etc.. Second 500 GB 7200 RPM HDD in the ...

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as I mentioned in subsequent posts, I purchased Vienna Ensemble Pro, which is a phenomenal bridge for any number of 32 bit and 64 bit VST’s; whether you are using a 32 bit or 64 bit host:

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, I misspoke about Reason 6. There will be BOTH 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Reason 6 when it is released in September; therefore no compatibility problems with Ableton Live.
I’m sure that that a 64 bit version of Live will be released soon. And like Reason, Live will have both 32 bit and 64 bit ...

Re: Propellerhead Reason 6 announced!
Sorry. I must have missed the reference to 32 bit compatibility; or the FAQ’s have been updated on the Propellerhead website since I viewed them. Perhaps this is why companies like Albleton are slow to release a 64 bit version: because they have to maintain ongoing support and updates for both the ...

Re: Propellerhead Reason 6 announced!
I am trying to contact Propellerhead support to get clarification. Hopefully they will have a work-around planned because it will affect anyone dependent upon a 32 bit host (such as Live and ProTools). I just purchased Omnisphere which should make me less dependent upon Reason; but there are just ...

Re: Propellerhead Reason 6 announced!
I'm sure you get the option of using both bit versions of Reason. They would be the first to have 64 bit if it came to that. Propellerhead's FAQ's indicate that there will no longer be a 32 bit version of Reason. Because Reason and Record are being merged into Reason 6, I think that Reason (and its ...
