So are we. However, just wanted to assure you that this problem is on our radar screen.

Hi Forge, the ability to separate automation recording from MIDI/audio recording is in fact one of the top items on our todo list. Your proposed solution with a modifier key however might only be a partial solution, since (among other issues) it works fine with mouse control if you sit in front of y...

Ahh, I see. It may well be that any application that switches Windows into
exclusive fullscreen mode crashes Live. I'll pass this into our bug tracking
guys. Thanks for the report.

out of curiousity stefan, have you used vvvv behind live on the one machine? if i go full screen with vvvv's output live crashes *VERY HARD* immediately..... No, I haven't. We can't even tell if it is a problem of Live or the plugin, unless someone tries it with other host applications (VST plugins...

VST -> OSC Bridge

An old friend of ours recently made a VST plug (PC only) that can be freely configured to send out any automation it receives via OSC. The people at meso use it to add timeline-based control their wonderful real time video synthesis engine called vvvv. Have a look here: http://vvvv.meso.net/tiki-ind...

It has to, because the previewed notes go through the instrument and the
fx chain. You can even do weird things by moving selected notes around
with the mouse or arrow keys and record the result in another track..

Re: (futile) Live 5 Browser feature request

My (futile) feature wish is this: If you select a folder in the Live 4 Browser, you can open/close the folder with the right/left arrow keys. I would love to have this concept extended to files (samples) as well, such that if you would press the left arrow key, it's parrent folder would be selected...

Hi distraub,

what you suggest is technically pretty hard to achieve, since dragging
(and copy-dragging) MIDI notes is done with the real notes, not with a
(purely graphical) drag image.

The advantage is that you can hear the notes while dragging them if
the clip's playing in a loop.

This feature will be mostlikely back again in the hopefully not so distant future. Achaikin, we at ableton are in a bit of a dilemma here. We already re-activated keyboard shortcuts for the global quantization in our current development version. They work only context-dependently, if the session vi...
