Have posted this a few times but nobody seems to know the answer...
I know that Live 6 supports multiple cores and multiple processors, but not all software automatically utilises the full 8 cores available in the Mac Pro... need to find out how well this works from somebody who has tried this.
If ...

8 Core Mac Pro / Mac Pros in general with Ableton Live 6
Hi,
Will Ableton Live 6 take full advantage of the new Apple 8 core 3GHz Mac Pro machine? What kind of difference in performance could I expect over the equivalent 3GHz Quad Core machine? (I run Kore and a lot of NI and Korg software synths) Also, will I see any significant performance benefits ...

Live 6.0.1 scene launch does not change over on the beat
Hi,
Regardless of what the scene launch quantisation is set to, I can't get Live 6.0.1 to cross over from one scene to another, in time with the tempo of the song (usually you can be playing a scene, then click another scene 1 bar (or other) before you want it to change and it will change over ...

Thanks everyone! Tunes should work properly...
Not sure why there was a problem - everything seems to work fine here. Thanks for the positive comments - it's a great inspiration!

Gee thanks... useful.
Are you having a laff? Don't mean to be unkind but that's got to be the most pointless answer ever. This is a matter of performance - whether I would get better performance in Live 6 running my samples and recorded audio from an external drive as opposed to using a system drive which then has to ...

Should I use my G5 iMac systemdrive or ext. drive for audio?
Hi,
I've been using my G5 iMac 2GHz system drive (400GB) to store everything on my computer, including my Ableton Live 6 projects, samples and everything else (I know... bad idea). The internal drive is a SATA so transfer rate is 1.5GB/s, wheras I also have an external Firewire 400 EIDE drive I ...

Synthesizer Mieten in Berlin? Need to rent synthesizers...
Hi :D
I am from London and I am going to Berlin at the end of June for three weeks to record with my band, Tonfabrik. We would like to hire a synthesizer for me to use as I cannot easily transport my larger equipment from London. Does anyone know a good place I can rent either a Korg Triton ...

Yes but it would still be nice to have the option...
...particularly when making lots of 'trial' mixes or running off less important 'fun' stuff and it's already two in the morning...
If Ableton added this feature, it doesn't mean that the pro users would HAVE to use it, but it would be a useful addition for those who don't want to have to use a WAV ...

Thanks!
Thanks for the reply. Will have a look at the manuals and online for more about Mackie control. If I can reassign these buttons to do other functions in Live, that'll be just as useful.

When rendering finished songs, allow add silence @ beginning
How cool would it be if when you rendered a track to disk in Live, it asked you how many milliseconds/beats of silence you would like to add to the beginning of the track before bar 1.1.1 starts - I always have to shift stuff up on the time line by 0.0.2 bars to make enough silence at the beginning ...

Tascam US2400 DAW Controller and Live 5 using Mackie Control
Hi,
I've got my Tascam US2400 controller working in Live 5 using Mackie Control emulation and most of the controls work fine (although some have to be accessed whilst holding SHIFT or the F-KEY e.g. resuming playback from a point during the song requires SHIFT+Play and launching clips requires F ...
