Re: What is your "secret weapon" softsynth...

Albino 3 for me.

I find it's the easiest synth for me to program my own sounds. It sounds a little thinner than most imo which actually works out perfectly as I have a Virus TI to provide all the beefy sounds, Albino just fills in the gaps. :D

Blu Mar Ten - Natural History

Kinda Drum and Bass with some different beats and big washy sounds. The CD's been going round and round in my car for the last month. :)

I'm getting one. I'm an audio programmer and electronic music geek. ;)

Happened to mine too. Heard about a few other cases of this as well. My shocks were a little more hurty and a little less tingly though. Kinda scary.

Sweet. More competition the better! (for us) :D

It isn't like Ableton invented the concept, they just gave us the best implementation of it to date.

Awesome news! Congrats!

Side note: Wish I was famous enough to just burn a cd of what's on my Ipod and send it to a record label and say it's my new mix cd.

Re: A question for the Ableton developers (or anyone interested)

If you want to learn how to program your own plugins or audio apps C++ is the language to learn. As for the best way to learn, imo buy a book. Learning from scratch is a lot easier if you're going through a book. The internet is great for looking up how to do specific things when you hit a problem. ...

JUCE and Live are pretty different (I've made programs using Juce before), plus Live came out before Juce no? My bet is something low level that they've written their own gui stuff over. Blatent speculation really tho. Live has hardware accelerated graphics support doesn't it?

Re: I'm not hiphop enough for rapper apparently..

Epic tune! Love it. If the guy doesn't wanna do anything on it get someone else, the track has big potential imo. Just (as someone mentioned) don't settle for typical top 40 hiphop lyrics, settle for EPIC. As for criticism, lose the change-down at 0:14 and don't hit the gated-ness until the beat kic...

+1 for fixing. I've always thought this was really weird behaviour for a program for live use.

Re: Is COMPUTER MUSIC Magazine a Good Buy?

I used to buy heaps of these magazines when I started out. They were really handy to try and get your head around the whole world of music production. However after a while it became apparent that there's only so much you can tell people in a magazine and they end up recycling material pretty often....

Re: How would you spend my money?

Just set it aside and start making tunes. You've got enough already to start cranking out songs, no need to spend moeny just because you have it. The worst musical purchases I've made have been when I had extra cash and just wanted to spend it. Even if you buy a bunch of stuff now you can guarantee ...

Been using Live since V3 and checking out the forum since about the same time. Post count is still pretty low, I don't really post anything unless I've actually got something to say or I'm really bored. 8)

Re: AVATAR trailer is up....

I went and saw the preview in Wellington. Looks pretty cool and real nice in 3D. While the trailer didn't give any real indication of the story, the preview ran a little deeper. Pretty much guaranteed I'll go see it when it comes out eh. :) (note: I may be biased, half my friends are working at Weta...
