Re: Multiband dynamics - which level is measured for the threshold?

Thanks for the answer. And yes, there are cases when this might be helpful. Is this possible with onboard-effects? Yes, in this case just use Compressor and set its internal sidechain filter to a bandpass. But by that I cannot affect different bands on the output spectrum. I want to freely map a sp...

Multiband dynamics - which level is measured for the threshold?

Hi guys, simple question and to some the answer might seem obvious but not to me and thus I want to be sure: Q1: Which level on the individual bands is measured for the thresholds? 1. The full spectrum input level or 2. Each band's level post input level-poti? I tend to 2 since the optical level ind...

Re: Live 10 public beta

The Ableton Sans font has been updated in the 10.0.3 beta and is now better readable on non retina screens. this was an issue for me and has been kind of cured. thanks Abes for that important detail work. same goes for the little UI padding glitches and thelike you fixed in earlier betas. Compared t...

Re: Analog / Operator Oscillator-Octave Knob too sensitive?

Hey folks, today I got the chance to play around with Push 2 a little and noticed something strange: When programming sounds on lets say the 'Analog' instrument, some of the knobs seem to respond waaay too sensitive to my edits on Push. For example, the OSC1 Octave setting: https://media.giphy.com/...

...and keep in mind that with live 9's introduction, Ableton introduced a lot of workflow and feature enhancements with minor updates. So this is just the beginning of 10.

Re: Komplete Kontrol integration totally flawed?!

. Companies learn more from lost sales. IMHo companies get lazy because consumers are not very rational buying stuff they don't even know if it does what they think it should do. Correct in theory. If they do market research on this. But I wouldn't be able to investigate on that in such depth befor...

Re: Komplete Kontrol integration totally flawed?!

Sure it isn't marketed as integrated. But since were in a tech realm where progress is the base for everything why people work in this field, I don't see the point why I shouldn't bother this. Even my old M Audio Axiom Keyboard was cabable of basics like arming, knobbing around and such. As we are i...

Komplete Kontrol integration totally flawed?!

Hey guys, I am unhappy because I cannot fully leverage the powers of my KK S61 keyboard with Ableton Onboard instruments. 1. I cannot quickly jump between track armings when using smart play features. I always have to arm two tracks: the one with the KK MIDI logic and my target internal instrument's...

Re: NI Komplete Kontrol

Hey guys, I cannot get my S61 smart play (SPF) functionality to follow multiple armed destination tracks with ableton onboard instruments. I follow NI's official guide how to use SPF w/ 3rd party VSTs and it works as long as both the NI and ableton track are armed simultaneously. since a natural tra...

NI Komplete Kontrol Worflow for Ableton Onboard Instruments?

Hey guys, is there no comfortable way to use NIs Smart Play functionality (SPF) (scales and arps from the keyboard)? AFAIK, I have to set up an empty KK VST MIDI track and set up my target MIDI track w/ Ableton instrument to arm it to the KK tracks MIDI out (since the SPF's intelligence seem to be s...

Re: Why is a mastered track peaking over 0db?

1. as already mentioned, there are the physics of intersample peaks. many limiters only block the highest samples from being over 0dB. But since the actual analogue signal is a curve that can rise above two sampling points, there might be higher peaks. 2. since lossy conversions definitely alter the...
