Re: Ram Vs CPU
Well the new Core i3/Core i5/Core i7 technology is all amazing so any of those would be adequate. They all have the hyper threading technology which adds "virtual or imaginary" cores and most of the current version of DAWS actually utilizes even the virtual cores... more info on hyper thre...

Re: Ram Vs CPU
Well considering you had your computer for 5 years you could do a "total" upgrade. By total I mean just the motherboard, ram, and processor. Anything else like hard drive ((solid state is SO fucking expensive)), graphics card or whatever is very very optional. But your core thing for perfo...

Re: "Beatport" stands for Commercial and Sellout?
Hopefully I didn't misunderstand but it was not just trying to start a label, they were the artists and Label creators, doing 2 things at once........trying to be independent. But ya definitely is a case and point because like he mentioned, if you don't have the promotional budget you get with major...

Re: Ram Vs CPU
Well long story short my friend, Ram only benefits how much stuff you can load before the system says "Application low on memory, save and close the program" Cpu is what you need for performance ((the whole 20% 50% meter thing)). Ram never helped increase performance, they even have benchm...

Re: "Beatport" stands for Commercial and Sellout?
Hey guys here's the link to that article my colleague wrote when he talked about Beatport. http://www.internetdj.com/article/tales-from-the-music-biz-what-to-expect-when-you-go-pro-1126 The part where they got dropped is around the 10th paragraph......but overall the entire article is for those who ...

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sach160 said....... +1 but in the meantime check out jbridge (google it), - I've tried a few things to get around the memory limits, bidule, reaper, vst chainer but jbridge is the first problem-free near-seamless solution I've found - it lets you run your memory intensive vsts in separate windows pr...

Re: Please recommend a Ableton midi controller for studio work
To be honest you can do fine with a very very basic controller like the $99 m-audio keyrig. Unless you doing live performances or playing in a band, you really won't be using pads, knobs, and sliders often. Sure you can map some things to the mixer and panning......but don't forget a lot of your tim...

Re: "Beatport" stands for Commercial and Sellout?
Hi We don't want to start a "War" discussion here but we are really wondering if we are the only ones who thinks that Beatport is a no go....? Do you think that the policy that Beatport got is the right way to go? Do you think that Beatport is so important for your business that you will ...

Re: 64BIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
and thus I add another +1 to the thread........ it's pretty much essential because since most people buy pre-built PC's they all come with 64bit OS's anyway. I won't bother to mention library sizes these days as Ableton themselves offer tons of stuff and have their own gigantic libraries.........so ...

Re: spectrum view in the background of equaliczers
+1 that as well. Although on that note I try to be careful about using visualizations when mixing. One advice I was given was to mix in this order....... Ears first, eyes last. BUT still visualizations always help so I'd love a spectrum feature as well. My favorite visualization so far is the Parame...

Snap To Grid for automation points.
For those of us doing a lot of automation, especially electronic music.......I feel this is one of the biggest features live has been lacking, and one reason I haven't done much work in it lately. And lately I personally do automation that involves turning FX processors on and off throughout my song...

Jbridged plugins not sending automation to Ableton
Hey guys I tried to configure Omnisphere to enable Host automation in ableton but realized that the "jbridged" version does not work with this function. I have tried other plugins as well and no success. The standart plugins work fine but if I run them through jbridge then that does not wo...
