Pentium M beats i5
Greetings experts, I welcome all opinion conjecture regarding this situation: I have live 8.xx running on 2 laptops 1) IBM t-42, pentium M 1gb RAM, 128 mb VRAM, hard drive 4200 rpm, windows xp 2) ASUS kjc52, i5 460, 4gb ram, 1 GB VRAM, hard drive 7200 rpm, windows 7. Both machines are extremely twee...

if this is OT I am sorry
sorry for this post here - but I am looking for support on Ableton LIVE 8.4.1. Does anyone know where I might find that? - I simply need to know how to arm automation for a CLIP in SESSION view so I record record MIDI CC info in realtime, into the clip, not the arrangement, the actual clip. I find i...

non-functiing MIDI mappings?
Greetings Experts, When I re-open a LIVE set, MIDI mappings that I created are present, but non-functioning. The only solution I have found is to re-create MIDI mappings each time I open the LIVE set, which works fine until I close and then re-open the set, and then the mappings to not work again, e...

how does one reverse a midi clip?
As in: a passage of MIDI notes, selected and then reversed, or inverted, etc?
I know it must be simple. Thanks very much in advance.

Re: Lap Top: recommendation please.
I have been running an ASUS K52Jc i5 laptop for 5 months, it is great. Did the usual Win7 tweeks but nothing exotic. Win7 and Mac OS are close enough now (that Mac is Intel) that the diff for me is negligeble - and this machgine works as wel as my macs easily. I paid $700 for it.

Re: Best USB interface for Ableton?
I have (2) Tascam US-144 mkII, and they are great, rock solid drivers too, amazing deal. The pres sound fine, the converters sound more than fine, only potential drawback is 15 ms latency when playing Virtual synths with MIDI. Not a problem for me on keys, from percussion controllers I like a faster...

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows via USB?
this does raise an interesting question which may deserve it's own thread. My 2 mobile systems are 7 years apart in age - I love the new system and it is a gazillion times more powerful that the old one, however I do not get a gazillion times more DAW power from it. Granted my Win7 rig is not fully ...

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows via USB?
I am back LIVE on XP system system now - IBM T42 P4 1.7 ghz, 1 GB, 4200, Emu cardbuss interface - all I can is WOW, what a difference. Compared to the last week of Win7 this feels like no latency at all, it is faster than most of my hardware. It feels a bit faster that OSX too, even though the repor...

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows via USB?
I am saying that 15 ms is what is reported in LIVE pref's in Win7 with the tascam usb interface. To me it feels like more. The driver developer says he gets 10 ms in Win7 with this interface, and that is not a problem for him. I get a reported 10 ms in an XP system here that is driven by an Emu card...

Re: Is it possibe to play LIVE instruments in Windows 7 via USB?
Sorry - yes i am now using the native ASIO driver. I was not not happy with the performance of the native asio driver, and so i tried asio4all, which does not handle the audio. The driver developer tells me that that the LIVE reported latency of 15 ms in win7 is about right. I have always had better...
