Re: 60 % off All Sonalksis plugins

can't. resist.

picking up the creative bundle as well.

for us PPC users it's nice that they still work on OSX 10.5 too - the similar FXpansion stuff (also on sale btw) is 10.6 only.

bass loops

Finally gathered the bass parts from a portion of my 1001 unfinished projects and converted them into loops. Downloadable as 16/44.1 wav files. Use 'em as you will.

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....

Troubleshooting should be pretty straightforward. Consider the basic components in your system: Ableton AF12 AF12 driver FW cable FW card The trick is to eliminate each component individually until the problem goes away. You've already trying system tuning and driver upgrades, so I'd suggest the fol...

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....

Oh yeah, prior to getting my AF12's I struggled with the (at the time) new Presonus "universal control" & drivers for a Firestudio. I had LOTS of issues with their drivers, which was one of the reasons I switched to the Echo boxes. On of the more useful things I learned from Presonus t...

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....

I have a similar setup although I run 2 AF12's as an aggregate device. I've experienced funky issues on occasion, although usually it's simply no sound at all - no level meters either on the DAW or the converter box, very strange. Not sure whether it's due to aggregate device functionality problems,...

Re: Questions On Building A Computer For Live Shows

In a live environment rack machines with their attendant monitors and keyboards just seems to be asking for trouble unless you're at the pro touring level and everything is cased. I'd stick with laptops, they're just that much quicker to set up and teardown and they're a little less fragile. I would...

Re: Seattle people, synth repair.

Soundwest in Tacoma. They're the real deal and straight shooters. As a result they're real busy, but it's worth the wait. I've had good luck with them on synths, pro audio gear, and recently my bass amp. Nice guys too.

To accurately mix with HS-50's? IMO yes.

Re: Need more volume/power

get a PA setup as 102455 suggested I didn't suggest that Sebastian buys a PA..... I was just questioning the rather sweeping suggestion from knotkranky that all powered speakers are worthless. My bad, didn't mean to misrepresent. So to be clear, it was my suggestion: if you want to get real loud wi...

Re: Need more volume/power

while the hs50's certainly are not the loudest powered speaker around, the bottom line is that speakers designed for mixing simply aren't made to provide PA level volume. nor is such volume desirably for mixing, as mentioned previously. accurate mixing and masking loud environmental sounds are kind ...

Re: Low Volume when recording through Mackie Onyx 1220i mixer

If you're recording a mono signal try panning the mic's channel to one side - should get you an additional 6db on a Mackie.

Re: unwanted ghost-notes when recording electronic drum-set

I picked up a DTXpress II kit a couple of weeks ago for practicing. Haven't tried to record it, either via MIDI or audio, but have noticed some interesting behavior with the hihat pedal. Amongst other things, as far as I can tell there is no logic built into the triggering system to mute the second ...

Re: Analog summing: Dangerous Music 2bus and equivalents

I've read much debate on the "is 8 channels enough to make a summing mixer worthwhile?" question. A big reason I think folks say "no" is that they're running way more than 8 tracks and would end up doing a lot of stem mixing ITB anyway. I still hear a difference though. The headr...

Re: Analog summing: Dangerous Music 2bus and equivalents

If you mix OTB you well eventually have to use one more pass of A/D somewhere, unless you're still working with cassettes or are passing a reel-to-reel mixdown directly to your mastering engineer (who will still be converting it back to digital, again assuming your final distribution format includes...
