Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
Ok final update : it was audible in other cars, with mine being the most noisy. So I simply distorted the track even further, which caused the transients to decrease and poof, the unwanted distortion/crackle disappeared. I even added a little background white noise and while not optimal, it is more ...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
Little update : I haven't had a chance to hear it inside another car yet, but I listened to it on a big iPod dock and I can hear the distortion, but only on very high volume. And even at very high volume, the distortion is low in comparison. I tried eq-ing some frequencies in the 2.70khz region and ...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
It may or may not be present. I haven't tried it. I have a top range bose system installed and all songs sound very crisp and clean inside to the point where I wouldn't even trust my car's system to check my mix correctly. But I'll try listening in a friend's car later on today and we'll see what ha...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
I meant it's limiting over 0 db with a gain of +1db (during the intro). But it stays barely under 0 db for the most part of the intro. So I'm actually peaking at 0 db, and the limiter should keep the track from getting distorted when it does clip. Isn't that what limiters are for? It's electronic mu...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
I'm listening to it as a direct export from ableton as a .wav. I have izotope ozone on the master. When it's off, they peak at -9db. When it's On it's limiting with a gain reduction of max 1 db. I tried activating the option to prvent inter-sample clipping but it doesn't remove the distortion. Witho...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
There are hardly any dynamics. I put a limiter on each track. Both tracks are in the high frequency range mostly. I lowered the levels on both tracks and the distortion became hardly noticeable. The problem is both tracks are present throughout the track at much higher volumes, but the distortion is...

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
Yes i believe it is. Although a bit boosted in the bass range. I've compared it with other similar tracks and get 0 distortion. I'm pretty sure the problem is within the mix and not the car. I just don't understand what to fix, because I can't hear it on my headphones or my monitors!

Re: Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
Already tried
I have a high pass on my master at 40 hz, and a hp of 100hz on the two tracks playing during the intro.
I even tried adding a redux on the master channel and playing around with it... but to no avail.
edit: And yes, you're right, it isn't there on low volume.

Audible distortion in car but not in monitors & headphones
Hi, I've been listening to a mix of one of my songs everywhere I can and there's this audible crackle/distortion during the first 30 seconds of my song that's audible in my car. What's killing me is that I can't hear it on my studio monitors or on multiple different studio and normal headphones. Any...

Re: Izotope Ozone Hiss noise in Ableton, normal?
Yes, I have them all set to clipping on the tracks and very fast on the master. But I can still hear the same noise when I adjust all of them to very slow. I just realized Ableton’s limiter creates the same noise with similar settings. When I turn it off, the noise is completely gone. So I’m guessin...

Re: Izotope Ozone Hiss noise in Ableton, normal?
I have it applied on two samplers for a kick drum and a snare and another one on a bass track recorded from a software synthesizer. No external hardware. I realized the hiss is significantly more audible from these 3 tracks than from the one I inserted to the master channel. When I mute all 3 and le...

Izotope Ozone Hiss noise in Ableton, normal?
Hello, I don't know if it's normal but every time I insert an instance of Ozone in a channel, it creates a faint hiss noise that you can clearly hear in the quiet parts of the mix. Any way to remove it? Or is this normal? I'm only using the Loudness Maximizer. Everything else is deactivated. Ditheri...

Re: Decent Audio Interface to be used only for Studio Monitors
Yeah, I think that's what I'll be going for.
One last question. Will I be able to set an audio interface as my default playback device both in Windows and in Ableton? Or will I have the choice to put my KRK RP6 as an audio output device?
Sorry, I'm quite a noob on this subject.

Re: Decent Audio Interface to be used only for Studio Monitors
Looks great. I went on their website and actually found something cheaper, but seems enough for what I'm going to use it for. What do you think of the Scarlett 2i2? I found it for under a 100$ over here : http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Focusrite-Scarlett-2i2-USB-2-0-Interface-/270878684658?pt=LH_DefaultDoma...

Re: Decent Audio Interface to be used only for Studio Monitors
@doghouse : Yeah, that's what a friend told me. But I've also been told that using an XLR to USB cable to connect my monitors to my PC may result in a decrease in quality, which is why I was looking into buying an interface. @ Riley333 : I have both USB and Firewire Ports. I have no idea about PCIe ...
