Yeah, especially if the toast is only gonna be eaten by you, you're not making any money off it or nuthin.

I'm confused about this stairsteps business, because surely the reconstituted analog sound produced by any DAC is going to be more or less splined between samples so there won't be any steps...I thought it would be more of a case of losing all the subtleties between samples due to the fact that the ...

I use a GI-10 as a midi controller and i don't find that the latency is noticeably worse than from a keyboard. A bigger prob than latency for me is getting realistic/consistent dynamics, but it's a very handy piece of kit nonetheless.

this is just a suggestion to the abletons, but the only effect that is up to my standard of quality is the auto filter. i still have to use my Waves plugins because the live effects... in a word.. suck. Check out the Waves Collections for great reverbs. You have Waves plugs, and like you say, they ...

SX has all those devices fighting for screen space... yug  and then when you've minimized something you can move 5 windows and try 3 scroll bars, before you find it again. nope, the layout alone is reason enough to choose Live. Yep that's the hideous thing about most uber-sequencers. So clutt...

Doesn't help that they come up with such cheesy sci-fi names - like Itanium. People always seem to talk about the Centrino as if it's a CPU, so I'll go with the flow. I have a P4M with HT but I thought the new "Centrinos" were designed to supersede them, ie still have very good performance...

What do you mean it's not there? It may not boot to dos, but dos aka command.com aka cmd.exe aka Command Prompt still exists in all versions of windows, and the NET command I was referring to is specifically for NT/2000/XP systems which are service-based!

You can use the NET command in DOS to enable & disable services, so you could make a few mega batch files to activate and deactivate a whole bunch of services at once. I have a few shortcuts to toggle individual services, eg. on my laptop i leave infrared off to save batteries, but when i want t...

how bout xxxx.co.xx (ie country-specific first level domain), or some other alternative to .com - I'd sooner have that than clutter up the url with thenameofthisbandis (well, unless your band is called Talking Heads).
