Re: Strange MIDI Latency

I think I figured it out. I was spitting out MIDI Clock on that output and it must have confused the TETR4.

Strange MIDI Latency

I am controlling a Dave Smith TETR4 with a MOTU USB MIDI Unit and I am experiencing some MIDI delay when it's playing a specific point in the song. If I solo the track, it plays fine, but when I play it with everything else, there is a delay. I see the MIDI indicator light in Ableton playing in time ...

Multiple triggers for Stop All Clips button?

Is it possible to have a few different MIDI devices trigger the Stop All Clips button? I want different members of my band to have this control.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: Automating Tempo Changes in Arrangement View

Thanks! I had to record to the arrangement...not sure if that's what you did, but I copied and pasted what it recorded and it worked.

Kind of a weird how we have to workaround basic functions like this, but I guess the program's dynamic timeline and stabilty make it okay.

Re: Program Changes in Session View

In case anyone is interested, I figured it out.

I split my song into a bunch of scenes/sections and then I stack a bunch of MIDI Clips with Program Changes and trigger them with Follow Actions. This is all while the backing tracks are playing on the main scene.

Now I can use Session View ...

Automating Tempo Changes in Arrangement View

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm trying to draw an envelope to automate some tempo changes and I can't get it to go to my desired tempos (136.02bpm and 174bpm). Not even fine-tune will do this. Is there anywhere to type in the tempo I want to be automated?

Seems like a pretty basic function. At ...

Re: Program Changes in Session View

Is there any way to automatically trigger it at a certain point in the song? It will be switching my guitar effect patch on my pedal, so it kind of defeats the purpose if I have to manually trigger it.

Re: Envelope Snap to Grid?

It snaps with the pencil tool, but not when I move the breakpoint with the cursor tool.

Re: Envelope Snap to Grid?

It's from a MIDI file I exported in ProTools. I noticed that even if I draw the envelope in Ableton, it will snap when I draw it, but not when I edit it. Is this a glitch?

Envelope Snap to Grid?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to get Ableton to snap the envelopes I'm drawing to the grid. Is it possible?

Program Changes in Session View

One of the last things that I need to get working is triggering Program Changes at specific sections in Session View. It's very easy in Arrangement View; I create a clip at the specific point in the song and tell it to switch my device (in my case an Eventide TimeFactor). I'm not sure if the same ...

Re: Rock band using Ableton for backing tracks

Cool....and how about for multiple Program Changes at key moments in each song? I need that to change patches on my Eventide pedals.

It was very easy to do this in ProTools.....I would go to the part I wanted the switch and program one. Is there any way to integrate Arrangement view into this "Main ...

Re: Rock band using Ableton for backing tracks

This is definitely something I should explore.

ShelLuser, I should mention that I'm using Ableton EXCLUSIVELY for our live show, so recording stuff doesn't apply. It all has to doing with the program's play functions.

rbmonosylabik, The Follow Actions thing is interesting. Can I take the long ...

Rock band using Ableton for backing tracks

Hello,

My band has been using ProTools to play our live tracks for years and want to make the switch to Ableton because of it's dynamic timeline abilities.

Here are some of the things we've used ProTools for:

- play to a click
- play multiple channels of audio to enhance our sound live
- switch ...
