Re: Live laptop setup with absolute minimum latency?

What’s the deal with using a networked stage box as an audio interface? Seems too good to be true.

Re: Live laptop setup with absolute minimum latency?

In many many cases, processing involving harmony will add latency. So be careful about expectations. Good point. I’m also checking out the various hardware harmonizers. Some certainly sound more natural than others, and detection of guitar chords is a requirement. Are you aware of a Live harmony pl...

Re: Live laptop setup with absolute minimum latency?

I don't have an audio interface yet. That's what I'm researching. I'm just looking for a low enough round-trip latency to perform live. I have a decent spec i7 laptop that I'm hoping will be good enough. Vocals and acoustic instruments will go into the interface and into Live for processing (harmon...

Re: Live laptop setup with absolute minimum latency?

Thanks for the replies.

I read elsewhere that the majority of latency doesn’t come from the interface, but from the computer processing. Of course, some software instruments and effects will be more processor-intensive, and therefore more likely to cause issues.

Live laptop setup with absolute minimum latency?

So I’m setting up for live looping with a MIDI guitar and vocals, so minimal latency is crucial. I have a fairly speedy PC gaming laptop, but I read somewhere that Live is optimized for Mac. So, I’m thinking of buying a new M2 MBP. Or, a GR-55 and a dedicated external looper, in case excessive lapto...

Any Jamstik Studio users out there?

So after lots of internet research, I took the plunge and ordered a Jamstik Studio. I intend on using it to play and loop Live instruments and vocals in a live situation.

Any Jamstik Studio users out there? Would love to hear tips, tricks, and any other experience!

Thanks!

Low-latency audio interface?

I’m looking to use Live to play out live, including playing VST instruments via MIDI guitar, and processing vocals. So I’m looking for an ultra-low latency audio interface, 4-6 inputs, budget $400. Liking the looks of Focusrite, but would be interested in some real-time experience from Live users. W...

MIDI-mapping with multiple virtual MIDI ports

For those of us using Live to choreograph and run large Live sets with virtual MIDI buses running audio, video, and DMX lighting, the limitation of only being able to MIDI-map a single virtual MIDI port becomes a limitation.

I'd like to be able to MIDI-map multiple virtual MIDI ports.

Re: Advice regarding computer-choice

It all depends on your workflow. I'm 95% MIDI with very little audio and no plug-ins, so it's not that demanding. But if you're audio-heavy, or use lots of CPU-demanding plug-ins, soft synths, etc, you will obviously benefit from more horsepower. I upgraded my aging Macbook Pro for a Dell laptop, wh...

Re: Using Live on stage to control parameters

I'm using Live (no Max required) for audio, lighting, remote pan/tilt/zoom cameras and video (Arkaos VJ). Launching a single scene sets everything in motion. Virtual MIDI buses are definitely your friend, as are Follow Actions. By firing a single MIDI-mapped "chord" through a virtual MIDI ...

MIDI-mapping with multiple virtual MIDI ports?

I'm MIDI-mapping a large Live set with many MIDI-mapped clips and scenes (audio, lighting, and video). I'm running out of MIDI notes to map with (128 notes x 16 channels), so I want to use another virtual MIDI bus. loopBe30 provides up to 30 virtual MIDI ports, but Live's MIDI mapping seems to only ...

Re: making a dmx strobe flash from tempo/click track

Very easy with a MIDI>DMX converter. I'm using the DMXIS interface, which is especially easy as the lighting interface is a Live plug-in. Just send a measure of quarter notes to the lighting fixture.

No Max needed.
