Re: Introducing Live Tools, including better Git integration
Can you explain for the non-tech people what the Git integration does and what XML backup means in laymen terms? Sure i'll try, although this is probably going to be of use to more technical people (namely developers). Git is a very popular version control system. Here are a few simple guides/usefu...

Re: Source\Version control
Have you had any luck with a system for this? I'm a software engineer myself and would personally love to be able to use GIT or another source control system with my bandmate, who is also a software engineer. We do lots of instrument recording and sampling, so would need a solution to handle the ma...

Re: Is anybody here good at making acapellas?
Need an acapella making but struggling having never done it before. It's from a movie with music in the background, so simply using phase cancellation with an instrumental isn't an option, or if it is, its a difficult one. I had a go at this and also tried the M/S EQ with multiband dynamics compres...

Re: Introducing Live Tools, including better Git integration
I knew that, but AIFF — while bigger — go on the iDevices too. But tagging is not the reason to release on ALAC. It's perfectly reasonable to release on AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, AAC, MP3 as you can automate conversion. Bandcamp for example support many formats. Sure, use whatever you like. It's mostly pe...

Re: Introducing Live Tools, including better Git integration
I just want to point out you can add this with the proper tools to AIFF too. That's true, you get the metadata support with AIF[F] too, but you don't get the lossless compression as you do with ALAC, which usually halves the file size. This particularly matters if you happen to be within the Apple ...

Introducing Live Tools, including better Git integration
Hey guys, For those of you on OS X, iv'e put together a few tools for Live that some of you might find useful. http://github.com/danielbayley/Ableton-Live-tools If you want to use version control for your Live projects, there's a service in there which will automatically uncompress .als files so tha...

Version Control
Some kind of integrated version control system would be cool. I tried using git which kind of works but it’s not meant for binary files so you don’t get useful stuff like being able to drag parts between .als files through Live’s browser. Also I suppose the potential is there for social/sharing for ...

Re: Alternative icons for Live
Looks like we had almost exactly the same idea! I like to have all the icons on my mac more like they do on iOS so I use Candybar with a theme called 'Flurry' but obviously this doesn't cover all apps so I have a Photoshop/Illustrator template file set to the correct sizes/rounded corners and all th...

ALAC Export option
The ability to export to ALAC and input metadata/artwork beforehand would be handy!
