Re: Has Ableton said anything about changing Live 9's Browser?
Just remove the "abletonindex" executable. Just go to task manager or activity monitor, find the path to the executable and delete the damn thing. Then just use finder or explorer to find files. Who the hell wants to use Ableton's browser anyway? You guys don't name your samples? You don't...

Re: Video: How to Create that "BIg" "Huge" Sound
Is this a joke?
Like, honestly, is this "employ a retard day" at the local mastering studio?
If you have to ask, you shouldn't be mastering ANYTHING!

... But to actually be helpful, this sound will vary based on which Digital-to-analog converter you are using, so will sound very different on each playback device and can't really be called a "controlled distortion" for this reason. As suggested above, do try re-recording the clipped mast...

Re: How to get "blown" out track without blowing out Master?
It's surprising how much of a dinosaur I feel like sometimes. I'm 32 years old. I look after all the band and music tech operations for a nightclub called Brown Alley in Melbourne, Australia as a "day" job and so many of the younger DJs and producers I work with nowadays could be called cl...

Re: L9: Audio Crakles with Zebra
I'm having no probs with either AU or VST Zebra on osx 10.6.8 live 9.0.1 32bit.
In fact, less CPU use generally -- but not noticeablywith Zebra) than with 8.3.4.

there's a little headphone icon at the bottom of the browser newt to the waveform view. Click it, it turns blue and you'll automatically hear the sample.

Re: Djs music format used on gigs
I look after one of melbourne's premier live electonic music venues. I'm yet to have a good answer as to why, but MP3s really do sound MUCH worse on a big system. Most people won't notice if it's 256 or 320kbps but if you're using 128kbps MP3s,it'll sound like balls. More so, though, unwarped mp3s d...

Without listening to it, I;d suggest you just run it through autotune's graph mode to see what notes are in it if you're stuck.

Re: CPU Problem.
This keeps happening to me, even after a clean reinstall of the OS and live.
I find a restart or 2 fixes it.
I really wish we weren't all unpaid beta-testers for all these buggy versions lately.

If you're talking about a launchpad, then yeah. They do a weird lightshow thing when they don't get enough power. Freaked me out the first time I saw it.

Re: Wav samples bitrate and sound quality
so, 44100Hz sampling rate at 16-bit mono is 705.6kbps.
simple maths, guys, 44.1*16=705.6
so, 706 is 16-bit mono, 1408kbps is 44.1kHz, 16-bit... 32-bit 192kHz stereo = 32*192*2 = 12288kbps
Yep.
Edited for typo

Re: How I've attempted to reinvent the Launchpad.
Hey man, I do a similar thing except with 2 launchpads (one in session and one in user2) and lemur on ipad. I had a similar trouble figuring out exactly which note on and CC parameters I could create on lemur so as not to conflict with the launchpads. My solution was to use a program called midi mon...
