Re: Novation Launchpad Script with Stepsequencer and Device Ctrl

hi ! i finally found some time to work on it and added the feature you mention. while you extend the clip it will clone existing notes in the newly created portion of the midi clip. It detect which portion of the clip should be duplicated based on the assumption most clip follow a looping size of a...

Re: Switching instruments playing live

@yur2die4: This is some awesome in depth stuff, thanks for posting this. I really didn't know that this kind of level of access was available to the end user regarding doing your own scripting. Your right this is making me think, although I'm not sure this kind of approach will totally accommodate w...

Re: Map several midi note pitches freely to other pitches?

Sounds like you want to play with the MIDI scale effect. Send if you set up another MIDI track with monitor mode set to in and choose your original drum track as your input. Then the unfortunate part is you'll need to manually make another scale effect for every note to transpose it to another one. ...

Re: Switching instruments playing live

Oh wow okay that's a whole other level there. For anyone following along I found this page which seems to be where the interest in this idea started; http://createdigitalmusic.com/2009/07/ableton-live-midi-remote-scripting-how-to-custom-korg-nanoseries-control/ And here's that thread; https://forum....

Re: Switching instruments playing live

Oooh you know yur2die4 I'm not sure I understand you fully but you did give me some ideas. Firstly though I haven't really tried to use the remote mapping blue hand feature much before. I gather the way it works is that if you have a supported controller with a script in the midi sync preferences ta...

Re: Sigur Ros Kick drum

It's quite likely there's a layering of sounds going on. Think like a basic kick drum then a boot stomping on wood floor and so on. Try layering some samples of your own and backing it up with something like a 909 with the top rolled off for sub. I built a track with drum sounds made from just hitti...

Re: Live to sync to incoming audio source (drum machine)

I think you'd be hard pressed to find an automatic function (although I'm no M4L expert). Even if you did, it would never be flawless. When ableton analyses a track you bring in to try to find it's tempo and set up a sort of "beat grid" (to use traktor esque terms) it does so taking a few ...

Re: Switching instruments playing live

@rluk; Your spot on for switching instruments, that's the part I've got covered. The thing is I sometimes have other effects and things on a per song basis. Say opening up a filter on a pre recorded loop, mapped to a fader. The same fader that's doing that could be mapped to say a dry/wet on a rever...

Switching instruments playing live

So I'm part way into working on a solution for switching instruments during live play. I thought I'd share my ideas on the first part and get some other peoples ideas on the piece of the puzzle I'm missing. First a bit of set up; I play keys and use a launchpad in a live electronic band. There's ano...

Re: Novation Launchpad Script with Stepsequencer and Device Ctrl

Actually you know if I had one request right now after some toying around for a few hours it would be something to the effect of copy and paste for the sequencer. It's cool to get a loop going and then want to put some variations on that. If you double the clip length you've now got a big empty spac...

Re: Novation Launchpad Script with Stepsequencer and Device Ctrl

This script is simply awesome. I'll chime in with others saying this is exactly what novation should have made themselves out of the gate, revived my launchpad experience. Also +1 the guy who said you should have a donation button on your site. I've been chatting with a friend about doing a combo DJ...

Re: VST to a Sampler instrument, formats, process, help!

Awesome oddstep thanks! I couldn't find a monophonic switch per se but simply turning glide on seemingly made it monophonic. Also couldn't find any retrigger setting but yeah, once again just using glide (and in my case, making the glide time super short) emulated the effect exactly. Thanks heaps

Re: VST to a Sampler instrument, formats, process, help!

Cheers for the help guys, @yur2die4; Well getting it into sampler can definitely be done the long manual way, but I'm attempting to create a more automated workflow. There's always going to be some manual tweaking required though. @oddstep; SFZ it cannot, but as I've discovered SF2 it can. I finally...

VST to a Sampler instrument, formats, process, help!

So I've got a VST I need to convert into a Sampler instrument (or realistically, any kind of sample based playback plugin or device but this would be preferred). I had heard about Sample Robot that automates a lot of the process which is cool, but it doesn't export to anything Ableton friendly. It d...

Re: Launchpad : tips n tricks, ideas, suggestions

Hi Ben, The clip launch rectangle doesn't respond to midi calls as it uses control surface methods to move around, i may be wrong but is it the case that when you hold the session button the clip launch buttons change state to represent each button as an 8x8 grid of slots and is lit to show which o...
