Re: EXX Freeze/Superego
wait a second..... i think what you mean to say is you want to "emulate" these guitar effects within live? if that is what you want there really is no effect within live that does this. the only thing that may sustain notes is compression (wich it really doesn't sustain it, just makes it ...

EXX Freeze/Superego
Hi there, I use Live 8 along with an electric guitar and a mic to make dark ambient. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of people using the Electro Harmonix Freeze stompbox and its big brother, the Superego. These are kind of like a piano sustain pedal for guitar. I'd like to duplicate these effects in ...

Re: MPK-25 simultaneously controlling several instruments?
Hi, I have an MPK Mini not a 25. I play drums on the pads into clips triggered by the keys on two tracks. I use 1 midi channel for the keys and a different one for the pads. I use keys on another channel to act as switches for my pedalboard for guitar and to control 2 loopers. I use keys on another ...

Re: Korg Nanopad 2 vs. Akai LPD8
I like the MPKmini. The first midi controller I ever bought was a Korg nanopad. I played drums with it in garageband. Then when I got Live, I thought I'd use it as a sort of simplified McMillen SoftStep, but it must have died or something, because the pads would never register in Ableton at all. I g...

Re: Reference Monitors for under $500?
I have the BX5As. I listened to them at a Guitar Center alongside the 5 inch monitors from KRK, Yamaha, and JBL. To my ear, the BX5A's sounded the flatter than the others. As an added bonus, they were the least money of all by a big margin: on sale for $200. I went in thinking I'd wind up with the Y...

Re: Using Live feels like cheating
I play guitar, do some vocals and fiddle with an mpk mini attached to operator. I can't get the sounds I want without all three. I have no idea how I'd replace my guitar with a computer thing. I'm pretty sure it's not possible. If it is possible, it'd be clunky as hell. Playing Operator is a totally...

Re: Anyone using APC20 or APC40 for live guitar looping?
Hmmmm... I got the APC20 in front of me here. No external footpedal switch. BTW, I don't have the Looper plug-in with my version of Live. I have a Lite version that came with the APC20. And I'm trying to get by without spending another $300 for the full Ableton version. Actually, there is a heck of...

Re: Anyone using APC20 or APC40 for live guitar looping?
Hi there, I use an MPK mini for everything in Live, including looping guitar and vocals. Everything I play is improvised around everything else, and particular numbers of bars and beats bore me, so I have no problem using a hand in the middle of a chord change to slap a pad on the MKP that's mapped ...

Re: I need help with choosing the right MacBook
I have an MBP, 13", base model with 2.4 Ghz processor, purchased last November, which works fine running Live Suite. I do not use any plugins or other software. My process involves 6 tracks which I improvise on the fly, nothing prerecorded. Two of these are audio, guitar and vocals. The other f...

Re: MOTU or FOCUSRITE... under $500 which would YOU go with????
I've got the Focusrite USB 6, and I used to have a Focusrite Firewire 14. The mic preamps sound as good as their reputation.

Re: Looper Multi-function Transport button broken
When you have Looper in Play mode, holding the multi-purpose button toggles between undo and redo. Have you read the section in the Ableton manual on Looper? It's chapter 20.20. There's a very useful diagram of the different functions of the multi-purpose button on p. 316 of the English manual. Tha...

Re: Looper Multi-function Transport button broken
>>>Hi, it sounds like your issue is in how undo/redo works with Looper. From the manual: Thanks. Glad to get an answer. That solves the undo problem (sort of, if you accept that you have to leave the channel open for recording while you let it play through again to listen to the overdub). So far, I'...

Looper Multi-function Transport button broken
Hey there, I recently bought a Macbook pro and Ableton Suite 8 to replace my RC-50. With looper playing, after recording a loop and an overdub, a 2 second click and hold on the multi-function button should result in an overdub undo. This doesn't happen. The overdub goes right on playing, the dedicat...
