Imagine editing something while it slips away on the screen under your mouse pointer. Now that would be strange.
However, there could be a preference to "Enable Follow When Seqeuncer Starts" at least.

Re: Live 8: Window focus behaviour needs to be changed!

Live v8.0.4 Update Improvements wrote:- On Mac OS X, if the custom dialog of a plug-in would not process incoming keys Live will handle them. Depending on the plug-in, this should provide a similar work flow as in Live 7.
Works like expected! Thank you, folks at Ableton! :D

Re: Live 8: Window focus behaviour needs to be changed!

Hm, in the longer description this sounds like one of the few bugs I reported or something related. When using a third party plug-in when I changed a preset the MIDI keyboard would no longer play anything and I'd have to go to the Live interface and hit the MIDI button off and on again. They never ...

Re: Live 8: Window focus behaviour needs to be changed!

I really enjoy the new features and enhancements that Live 8 offers, and think the Abletons have done a fantastic job! One thing though is absolutely counterproductive: The new window focus behaviour. As soon as you have clicked anywhere in a plugin's window, you can not control anything in Live's ...

wrong forum.

no problem, ranting. ;)
1. Not everyone has time to betatest. Some people have to work.
2. I did pay attention, see post above.
3. Stop bitchin around here please.

Re: Live 8: Window focus behaviour needs to be changed!

^ but this does sound like a bug, not a feature request. Like mentioned in a beta thread, it's most probably not a bug, but the new window management system, that allows keyboard control of plugins now. As people already mentioned, that this is counterproductive in many cases, I was hoping they wou...

Global Swing Value from L7 translated correctly?

I wonder if the global swing value from previous Live versions is translated correctly. This is, did the 0 to 99 values in previous Live versions correspond to percentage values of a) 0% to 130%, or rather to b) 0% to 99% ? Example: If I load a song created in Live 7, that had a global swing value o...

Workaround:

Remote control the clip record/launch/stop buttons from within Live via IAC (or whatever equivalent on PC). You'll have one or many MIDI track(s) with clips that can engage any combination of different length recording for multiple slots on other audio/MIDI tracks.

Also check out the possibilities when you set the clip launch mode to 'Gate' instead of 'Trigger':
Playing legato will transpose the clip while it keeps running, playing staccato will retrigger the clip.

Re: triggering sequences of notes with the keyboard

You can already do this. When in MIDI assign mode, press a second key on your keyboard, while you hold the first one, and a note range will be assigned to trigger the clip.
The triggered clip will be transposed according to the note you play.
