I'm using RapidComposer as a sequencer plugin in Live 9 to control/play instruments on other tracks.
It easy enough to pipe the midi from RapidComposer to other tracks using the midi routing.

So I havn't got any clarification from Ableton or Cycling74 but look at the cross grade offer at C74 home page it appears that you can only get Gen as an add-on to Max 6, not for M4L. Which makes sense commercially. It's a way for C74 to get some extra money from the M4L customer base. I guess C74 ...

It's stated clearly that M4L is based on Max 6 in Live 9.
Gen is an addition to Max 6 when buying Max stand-alone from Cycling 74.

Gen is mentioned on the Live 9 page by Ableton but it's not 100% clear for me that you actually get Gen when buying Live 9 Suite that includes Max for Live!?
