Re: Punchy kicks?

having the right kick for the track is a must. Try some different kicks.

If you have sampler you can build some 128s so you can listen through the kick samples in the track

Re: Playing out live-External HD/File Format

I think I need to rephrase my question

So people who are playing out live, do have all you're stuff on your laptops/MBP hard drive or do use and external?

What file formats do you use? i.e. WAV/HIgh Res mp3/AIFF

What sort External HD set ups do people have at home?

Re: ableton should worry about fruity loops not bitwig

I believe its a cravat, but anyway, maybe everyone else needs to worry about Live 9. No one knows wht's going to be in it for sure and with the new iPad coming up, rumoured to have quad core processing etc, could ableton is just biding its time for the iPads to be able to handle live properly. Me pe...

Re: new guy with questions

If you're using Massive etc are you sure you need suite? Playing Devils advocate btw :D I have suite, but I don't use anything else that much. Admittedly the sampler is awesome, but you could buy it separate or use short circuit. My 3rd party plugins are effects like Ohm force stuff. Also have you t...

Playing out live-External HD/File Format

Hi Guys I'm staring to think about playing out live/Djng with Ableton. Things I want to know are- do people stick to wavs or use max quality mp3? Seeing as I got 500Gb on my HD, I'm figuring I shouldn't need an external HD for gigging, but how does anyone with an external Desktop HD set up at home h...

Re: Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

So if Ableton is as terrible in its sound quality, why doe DJ fresh use it? He got a number 1 single with Ableton Because he makes good music! Isn't it about that? And I'm sure it's not that terrible. Have we crossed wires? Yeah he makes good music, using a DAW someone thinks is shite. If it really...

RIP-A Remix Manifesto

Hi Guys

I watched this last night. Good film about mash ups and the legal aspect with some quality eye openers in it.

Its a bit old, but still worth the time I think and its free!

Re: Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

So if Ableton is as terrible in its sound quality, why doe DJ fresh use it? He got a number 1 single with Ableton, oh an before I forget High Rankin and Porter Robinson use Fruity Loops. So based on those facts maybe that guy, although a top producer, doesn't really know how to get the best out of w...

ableton/apogee routing for sampling

Hi Guys

I got an apogee duet and I want to sample stuff from DVDs and the net, but I can't work out the routing to get the sound going through ableton for recording. I got audacity in case that had some other option ableton didn't, but no joy.

Any ideas?

Re: Mastering&Mixing problems.

Got some really interesting stuff on here. Cheers guys :)

Yeah mixing is a real art form, and often less is more. I got the Dance Music Manual which has lots of useful info. Well worth a read if you get the time, and its a good reference book as well.
