That bassline that sounds like it starts with a kick. It's fat and distorted. I know their methods are usually shrouded in mystery, so what's the best way to replicate it?

Two tracks that a friend of mine have made have vocoders and both start getting harsh in the high frequencies. I'm looking for a multi-usb hub/thing since MacBooks are limited to only 2 USB ports. I bought some Kingston one and it turned out to be crap. Any suggestions?

I have an APC40 that works with my iMac and Ableton Live 8, but when I plug it into my Macbook it does not even appear under Midi Sync. When I got to the Macbook's Audio Midi Setup it shows up as USB Midi Device. But other than that nothing for Ableton.

I just got an APC40 today, and it works with my iMac running ableton live trail version, but when I plug it into my 13" Macbook running OSX 10.5.8 and ableton live 8.2.1, it doesn't even show up on the preferences under midi sync..... under the mac's Audio Midi Setup it shows up as USB Midi Dev...

The lights are on but Ableton doesn't receive any signals. The midi light stays off. Is there firmware required because I didnt get it in the box, and I cant find it anywhere online....?
