Re: YOUNG PERSON SEEKING ADVICE

Okay, given that. Mabye some sort of electrical engineering may be a good idea. That way I could apply the knowledge I have gathered about equipment, amplification, and signal processing and apply it to a job that is in demand enough to where I can pretty much choose a work week. I fear that the cou...

Re: YOUNG PERSON SEEKING ADVICE

Wow, the honest advice that you are all giving is really incredible, and I've got to say, very heartwarming (not to be gushy or anything). After a lot of thought I've decided to finish out my degree in a more passive major that I enjoy (anthropology), and put most of my time into music. I'm involved...

YOUNG PERSON SEEKING ADVICE

Hi all, I am a twenty year old college student who has been writing music and learning about recording for years. So far it has given me zero income, and none the less it is the most rewarding thing I have done. I am at a crossroads, however. I was recently considering transferring to a college that...

Re: Has anyone here ever taught an ableton class?

I definitely get what you guys are saying, but the only thing I am really asking is for visuals that I cannot create myself (I know very little about photoshop), and I'm sure that there have been some good visual guides passed out. I'm laying out the progression of the class by myself, some visual r...

Re: Live Looping Guitar with Ableton Issues, Advice appreciated

I see, I guess I havent bothered with clips because most of what I play is compounded on top of older tracks (where I can just press + and overdub and everything is fine). The biggest trick I am trying to get now is getting the quantizing on so that If I use a time effect on a dummy clip it will act...

Has anyone here ever taught an ableton class?

Hi guys, I'm teaching a workshop at my university on ableton live. I'm pretty sure that I know how to introduce and progress through the topics, but having some visuals on paper would really be helpful, especially to pass out to people in the class does anybody know of a site that has abletons featu...

Has this every happened to YOU while using LOOPER?

I'm routing audio in and out of ableton, and I have two instances of looper (to record different loops from different inputs). Using my beringer fcb1010 foot pedal, I have a single button mapped to the "pedal" button on BOTH loopers (this way I push the button, play something, push it agai...

Re: Live Looping Guitar with Ableton Issues, Advice appreciated

On second thought, I've found out that the issue is grounding, but I do not need the box. when I use the same outlet as my laptop and interface, the noise goes away. I'm not sure why, but it works. I may still consider this product for the future though, so thanks anyways

Re: Live Looping Guitar with Ableton Issues, Advice appreciated

interesting, this seems like it should do the trick actually. How would I go about getting the signial in my PC? Would I send the xlr from this into my interface then? And would humming be an issue when I return the signal from my interface to my amp? I would not be able to use xlr for return, mabye...

Live Looping Guitar with Ableton Issues, Advice appreciated

Hey all, So I am using ableton as a live looper, and unlike most of the posts that I am reading, I am looping to and from my guitar AMP, not a digital preamp ( I use the send/return. going to my audio interface, and back out). In theory and somewhat in practice it works. I can loop audio, and I use ...

Help finding some missing files

Last saterday I had my amp mic'd up PERFECTLY, I recorded some tracks and got the exact sound that I wanted. It took about five hours of my time, but hey, its not like these samples would randomly dissapear in a few days right? wrong It is possible that I saved over my set, or something. but I am PO...

Re: Something to make all of you sound designers think

Wow, I was really suprised with all of the excellent responses that you guys have come up with. One recurring point that I had not thought of is transitioning between a dry and filter frequency, rather than just raising the cutoff. The only way I know of how to do this would be to just duplicate the...
