Re: Atomation to session view with M4L ?
tempus3r had pointed to a device during the beta phase of m4l, mentioned here: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=127528&hilit=automation&start=15 the link is currently dead, but i do remember it working just fine. iirc it acted as a translation layer to change automated midi c...

Re: (Legit) Bob Dylan Remix
hi scientist. Another big Dylan feel here who loves this. Great re-mix. It'd be fun to hear what the man himself would have to say about it being used on a shoot'em up :D thanks, i did my best to retain the spirit of the original. i didn't speak to him myself, but he had final say and approved the ...

Re: (Legit) Bob Dylan Remix
thanks, man. it's really too bad the soundtrack isn't getting more attention as it's a great concept. they sought out political/protest songs for the remixes to be the soundtrack for the rebel faction in the game. the bug remixed public enemy, king kannibal remixed the damned, etc.

Re: metadata access?
thanks for the reply, which leads me to a follow up question if you don't mind. would it be possible to build a method for parsing clip names? e.g. if i named a clip "ArtistName_SongName_Label_Year", is there a method for identifying "Year" from the string? i have an idea where i...

metadata access?
not a m4l user, but had a quick question. is there a way to access id3 metadata of audio files that reside within a clip? artist name, genre, etc.

Re: Does 8.2.1 'program only' include all changes and fixes?
8.2.1 already? Well, considering that 8.2 now crashes (i.e., shuts down) my entire Mac -- rather than just Live itself crashing -- I certainly hope it has been made more stable. Anyone else have this? Live sequencer is running, and then the Mac display just goes black. If you're lucky, it reboots o...

Re: can I do something like this in live
it's even easier than the video's method. slice-to-midi your loop by 1/4 or 1/8 notes or whatnot and move the resulting midi notes around.

'unlock' macro mapped parameters to allow adjustment
presently, any parameter mapped to a macro in a rack is locked to and controlled absolutely by that macro knob's settings. it would be great if each parameter's individual setting was still adjustable, and in turn macro adjustments would affect the controlled parameter relative to its own setting. e...

Re: Notepad in Live to jot down lyrical ideas within a set?
control clicking a track and selecting "edit info text" gives you a notepad in the lower left of the screen. once you've entered some text, just hover over the track name to see the text.

Re: Vangelis type sounds in Ableton?
ah. short version: saw waves for your oscs, a bit of low pass filter, ease off the attack, attach an lfo to pitch (very subtly) and control lfo intensity with mod wheel. throw this through some delay and reverb. most va synths can get you close but analog is particularly good. btw, the lead in this:...
